Responsibilities:

Perform mechanical design of precision components, subsystem/system to support the development of the next generation semiconductor metrology equipment.

Own and drive the mechanical design process:

• Gather and uncover technical requirements and translate them into subsystem specifications.

• Conduct preliminary feasibility studies through engineering first principles and/or experiments.

• Propose and complete the design from conceptual design, detailed design to detailed drawings.

• Conduct analysis and simulations, including structural, thermal, vibration/modal Finite Element Analyses (FEAs).

• Participate and lead design reviews to obtain a peer-oriented design assessment.

Plan and execute designverification/validation:

• Fit/form test on sub-assembly/system, which includes hands-on work in the cleanroom building/assembling the first few mechanical assemblies.

• Perform risk analysis, develop test plans with well defined test criteria, and execute verification testing of subsystems and systems.

Supplier management:

• Ensure all design requirements are appropriately specified and parts quality meets specifications with inspection on incoming components.

• Collaborations for customized solutions when required.

• Manufacturing process transfer and qualification.

Cross collaboration:

• Present technical data effectively to diverse audiences in design reviews, status updates, and issues.

• Collaborate with multi-functional engineering teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers, systems engineers, andmanufacturing/serviceengineers, to ensure seamless integration and testing at both subsystem and system levels.

• Develop and release comprehensive documentation of designs, such as assembly and test procedures. Provide training on the new design/procedure and transfer to manufacturing.

Tool maintenance and troubleshooting:

• Apply standard problem-solving methods to identify root causes of sub-system and system test failures.

• Collaborate with manufacturing team during product ramp-up to support and troubleshoot product issues.

Requirements:

• In-depth understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, encompassing design principles, materials selection, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack-up analysis and error budgeting.

• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, including design principles, machine elements, materials, fabrication methods.

• Experience in several of these areas is desirable: opto-mechanical design, precision mechanism, vibration isolation and damping, flexure and compliant mechanism, structural optimization, tooling and test fixture design, design with carbon fiber composite, elastomers, high performance plastic material, design for cleanliness, motion stage design, temperature control design.

• Familiar with mechanical manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, etc.

• Proficient in 3D solid modeling using CAD, preferably ProE/Creo.

• Basic knowledge in simulation software (eg. Solidworks, Creo, ANSYS, etc), capable of structural, vibration, thermal and fluid simulation. Able to do first order estimation using mathematics.

Qualifications

• Field service activities associated with troubleshooting, diagnostic and repairing highly complex equipment at customer wafer fab facility.
• Resolve installation and upgrading problems.
• Coordinate equipment schedule to minimize system downtime.
• Conduct customer orientation and technical training on all aspects of equipment maintenance support for user application.
• Prepare field service reports on customer support activity and provides documentation to other supporting functions on re-occurring problems

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide first-line technical support for Frontline software, including installation, version upgrades, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
• Act as the primary point of contact for customers, delivering timely and effective solutions while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Document and escalate complex technical issues and feature requests to the R&D team for further investigation and resolution.
• Collaborate closely with regional Sales Managers to support business development and ensure seamless customer onboarding and retention.
• Partner with Product Management and Marketing teams to address escalated technical matters and contribute to product improvement initiatives.
• Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, technical issues, and resolutions in the support system.

• Solve complex motion system integration issues on an optical wafer inspection tool
• Develop product specifications based on system requirement
• Involve in product development through release and will be encouraged to foster his/her technical solution
• Provide feedback on design changes by working closely with Development Engineering teams (Mechanical Engineering. Electrical Engineering., and Software Engineering) and creating ECO and documentation as needed
• Provide fix support on field customer concerns for analysis/resolution on any issue requiring in-depth design know-how on the product and support beta testing at customer sites
• Reviewing marketing requirements, develop system critical design specifications and design test methods

Job Requirements:

• Master’s/Bachelor’s Degree inElectrical/MechanicalEngineering or related fields with 2 or more years of experience in System Engineering
• Ability to read technical drawings, understand BOMs, and use a variety of precision testing and measuring Instruments
• Must possess strong solving and analytical skills to support technical issues, set-up experiments, and perform data analysis
• In-depth understanding of optical, mechanical, electrical, and software components involved in the design and development of optical-based, semiconductor inspection equipment or equivalent is a plus
