Responsibilities – How can you make a lasting impact in a rapidly changing world?
• Client and Colleague Communication: Serve as the main point of contact, liaising with international clients and colleagues on European VAT and compliance matters.
• VAT Compliance Oversight: Monitor, review, and approve indirect tax data, reports, and returns, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance VAT compliance processes and keep up with legislative and business changes affecting systems.
• Team Leadership: Supervise, coach, and support junior team members, both onshore and offshore.
• Collaboration and Development: Work closely with VAT controllers and senior managers, and engage in training to support personal and professional growth.
Where do you start if you want to change the world?
• A Bachelor and/or Masters degree in economics, tax law, accounting or equivalent – a specialism or supplementary degree in taxation is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in EMEIA VAT compliance, either in industry or with other service providers.
• Basic understanding of other compliance activities such as statutory accounting and corporate tax compliance.
• Working knowledge of Dutch in addition to a strong working knowledge of English
• Basic understanding of IT-systems and VAT/GST reporting solutions as well as the changing legislative landscape and the impact on VAT compliance.
• Proactive and motivated, capable of independently tackling challenges and managing projects while also excelling in team environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills paired with effective written and verbal communication abilities.
• Organized and adaptable, with a desire to learn, develop, and fluency in both English and Dutch.
• Vitality: the choice is yours. An online session with an external vitality coach, practical tips on topics such as nutrition, energy, sleep, and mindset and/or a voucher card to rent a padel court.
• Flexible working: you decide where and when you work in consultation with your team. At home, at the office, at the client or from another European country (up to 20 working days per year).

• Laptop and smartphone: you are entitled to a laptop and smartphone with a business subscription. *Smartphone not applicable to (thesis) interns.
• Salary: in addition to your fixed salary, depending on EY's financial performance, you may be eligible for a bonus. You are also entitled to an expense allowance (depending on the function) and an internet allowance of €40 net per month.
• Time off: you are entitled to 29 vacation days per year when full-time employed.
• Sabbatical: the option to take unpaid leave after consultation.
• Birth leave: EY will pay 100% of the birth leave, in case of an additional birth leave EY will pay 70% of the salary.
• Training and education: EY believes it's important for everyone to always have the opportunity to further develop yourself. As a Data Engineer / Integration Specialist within the EY SAP Enterprise Data Management Initiative run by SAP Platforms & Assets, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing scalable data pipelines and system integrations for data management and transformation projects.
You will be part of a global team creating an advanced, cloud-enabled data platform that uses technologies from SAP, Databricks, Snowflake, NVIDIA and Microsoft. Your focus will be to enable seamless data movement, transformation, and integration between SAP systems and modern data platforms, ensuring data availability and quality across multiple environments.
