Responsibilities:

  • Manage parent consolidation and reporting to Sony Global headquarters along with queries and instruction updates along with completing various accounting schedules

  • Subsidiary trial balance review and postings

  • Co-ordinate reporting change and instructions for business divisions

  • GL Master data governance

  • Co-ordinate monthly closing with inputs from different stakeholders (Platforms and Business groups, Sales and Marketing team, Business controlling etc.) in line with the central timetable;

  • Manage fixed asset and right-of-use asset reporting for Sony North America

  • Month end closing operations, including calculation, review and approval of journal postings, various accounting adjustments

  • Variance analysis North America as main deliverable to the management during month-end closing;

  • Perform/Review BS reconciliations and make sure all balances are reconciled and validated. Manage queries related to financial accounting and standard reporting;

  • Ensure month-end close processes are delivered to support WD2 financial reporting and facilitate clear variance reporting against forecast and budget, and prior periods.

  • Review and approval of journal (accruals & provisions etc.) postings prepared by Off-shore and other parts of the Finance community;

  • Respond to statutory, tax and audit queries required by Sony Finance Global Accounting, Internal & External Audit, Statutory team;

  • Ensure all finance and commercial activities under remit in the business comply with the effective application of agreed Sony Corporate Accounting Policy and SOX controls;

  • Provide technical guidance in verbal and written format to Business as and when needed under the supervision of line manager, under Corporate Accounting Policy and IFRS as required;

  • Support Global Tax Office (GTO) requests with the provision of general ledger (GL) information;

  • Drive standardized processes and procedures across countries and business groups to deliver efficiency and effectiveness in high volume transactional based accounting

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting or related field

  • 2-3 years of applicable experience

  • Proven experience delivering results and driving process improvement

  • MS Office proficiency, especially in Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professionally qualified accountant (CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or international equivalent)

annual base salary for this position is $195,000 to $210,000.In addition to the annual base salary, this role has an annual bonus target of 17range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. What You’ll Do:

  • Work on a high-performing team of motivated, passionate individuals who love what they do.
  • Analyze and interpret royalty data to provide business intelligence to both our songwriters and internal colleagues including senior management, as well as our business partners. This includes but is not limited to: Gather data from various systems and data sets to provide historical summaries and perform detailed analysis. Research and reporting for Business Affairs, Legal and Creative teams. Provide our songwriters and their teams with answers to their royalty questions.
  • Assemble payment files for contractual royalty distributions.
  • Provide supporting royalty data and insights to SMP Counsel for litigation and contractual reviews.
  • Analyze royalties to identify necessary adjustments, and facilitate adjustments in conjunction with royalty processing team.
  • Examine royalty data to identify fluctuations and variances; facilitate appropriate corrections.
  • Calculate advances due.
  • Work on and propose innovative projects and data solutions.

Who You Are:

  • Professional with 7 years’ experience in royalty data and analytics; experience in Music Publishing would make you an ideal candidate.
  • You can operate under tight deadlines, re-prioritizing tasks often as business demands change throughout the workday and workweek.
  • Experience in Excel, SQL and Data Visualization desired.
  • You are comfortable working with senior level staff, external clients, colleagues, and business partners to provide customized service based on individual needs.
  • You have a keen attention to detail and enjoy research, data analysis, and learning new technology.
  • You are self-motivated and enjoy a semi-autonomous role where you have ownership and accountability for your individual work output.
  • You propose innovative solutions to utilize technology to automate and improve efficiency in processes.
  • You think critically, problem solve, and collaborate well with colleagues in other departments.
  • You communicate verbally and in written form in a way that explains complex data in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
  • 7.5-hour business workday, but variations in work volume can require extended working hours based on business demands.
