  • Senior Manager, Chemical Engineering is one of the keys to drive the FW Innovation, Product, Manufacturing and Product Excellence. We have established a unified Footwear Engineering Manufacturing team (FME) in the Footwear Supply Chain organization (FWSC). We are seeking a Senior Manager, Chemical Engineering, to join our office in Taichung City, to be part of a global organization dedicated to delivering excellence to our consumers every day.

  • As Senior Manager, Chemical Engineering on the Footwear Manufacturing Engineering team, you will collaborate with diverse team of chemical engineering subject matter experts with various experience in a multitude of disciplines. Key partners are the teams within the Footwear Manufacturing Engineering team and collaborate with other Functions such as Product Creation, Materials, Responsible Supply Chain, and Cost Engineering in partnership with our Factory Partners, collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and setting Chemical Engineering and Product Testing strategy for the Footwear Manufacturing Engineering team, while also staying aligned with relevant Sustainability, Materials, Product Creation and Innovation strategic initiatives. By leveraging expertise and fostering collaboration across different functional teams, you will lead your team and the extended network of Chemical Engineers and Product Testing to successfully deliver key projects and strategic initiatives.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON

  • You will contribute to Nike’s mission to produce the best footwear in the world by driving manufacturing and product excellence, as well as delivering the sustainable growth that will fuel our future. Ensure alignment with global engineering strategies while delivering impactful solutions at the local level.

  • You will be working with your team and the Footwear Manufacturing Engineering network to define, implement, track progress and achieve goals on projects, programs and initiatives while navigating a dynamic, highly matrixed, fast-paced environment.

  • As a people manager you will lead, coach and inspire your team, creating a culture of ownership, curiosity and collaboration. You will partner with the Footwear Manufacturing Engineering Leadership team to support the growth and development of the Chemical Engineers and Product Testing in the extended network.

  • On any given day, you might be leading or participating in team meetings or workshops, brainstorming solutions to complex problems, inputting into strategic programs, meeting with an external vendor or building a PowerPoint presentation to launch a key strategic initiative with NIKE Footwear Supply Chain and other Supply Chain teammates in Innovation, Product Creation, Materials and Sustainability

  • Collaborate with Global Chemical Engineering and Product Testing teammates and Factory partners and cross functional teams to drive initiatives, functional best practices, new chemistry and innovation in support of delivering Innovation, Product excellence.

  • Your typical day/week will include ensuring you’re focused on and progressing against clearly defined weekly and seasonal priorities. You’ll drive an annual calendar of engagement with Factory Partners to deliver results against immediate needs as well as long-term priorities.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH

  • This role can be based on Taichung, and it reports into a Footwear Manufacturing Engineering Director. This role will work collaboratively with external Footwear Manufacturing Partners, across the full Footwear Supply Chain organization, and with a highly matrixed organization across a variety of internal and external partners with cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity. You are part of a global team committed to delivering excellence to our product teams and to consumers every day

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Engineering, Business Management or related field or equivalent combination of education, experience or training. Master’s degree (in chemical engineering, polymer science or related discipline) is highly preferred

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience; 4+ years of people management experience

  • Footwear experience is preferred; experience in related industries, as the external parties such as Chemical vendors and our Footwear manufacturing suppliers may also be considered

  • Well versed in coaching, developing and leading highly performing direct or indirect teams

  • A strategic leader with a proven track record of collaborating and influencing in a highly matrixed organization across a variety of internal and external partners to be comfortable engaging with both external partners and internal stakeholders, building strong partnerships ; ability to maintain focus through ambiguity and change.

  • Strong People management skillset, English written and verbal communication skills, Project and time management skills; commitment to delivering results on time Requires domestic and international travel up to 10% of time, along with the flexibility to collaborate with global partners on their local times as needed.

  • High emotional intelligence with a successful history of networking and influencing without direct authority to mobilize internal and external resources.

  • Strong track record of managing external supplier / vendor relationships and being the compelling voice of a brand and/or navigating and influencing in large, complex organizations is critical.

  • Experience with risk and issue management is critical to the success of this role.

  • Proficient in standard MS Office programs.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

You will be asked to coordinate & facilitate business meetings across stakeholders and timezones, manage & coordinate calendars, lead & organize team operations, and stay connected with a global admin community. Responsibilities include:


1. Coordinate and facilitate business meetings:

  • Organize and prepare meeting materials, agendas, and minutes.

  • Collaborate with relevant teams including manufacturing partners to ensure meetings contribute to overall business objectives.

  • Maintain an organized record of meeting documents and follow-up actions.

  • Track meetings, stakeholders and calendars to ensure priority meetings are maintained.

2. Manage visitor calendar across stakeholders:

  • Coordinate schedules and requirements of both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with team and visitors to ensure smooth operations and productive visit experiences.

  • Maintain contact network to support travel needs for both inbound visitors and outbound team members (example: visa, transportation, travel booking, prepare itineraries, expenses reports)

3. Additional responsibilities:

  • Lead team folder management (including folder access) to ensure consistent file integrity.

  • Organize team events to support global community and team collaboration.

  • Collect team and factory partner weekly updates to share with PMO stakeholders.

  • Support team purchase and payment requests.

  • Primary contact for PMO admin & accounting team to support office operations.

  • Consistent connection with NXT admin team to ensure a successful collaboration.
