Typical activities will include the following:

  • Our Transaction Diligence team aims to assist clients throughout the transaction process and works closely with other specialists both within SaT and other Service Lines. Skills and attributes for success

  • A Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD Degree
  • 7+ years of experience in data governance and data management
  • Understanding of technologies used in data governance and management (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica, etc.)
  • People management experience
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and develop others, managing budgets, scope creep, expectations, deliverables, timelines, etc.

You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients across all sectors of the industry as part of a globally integrated network of specialists who come from a range of different backgrounds such as traditional tax practice, industry, legal, commercial, technology and Revenue. The work is technically challenging, creative and requires you to work closely with our clients’ businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Complex Tax Engagements
    Independently manage multiple domestic and international tax projects, including structuring, due diligence, and SPA reviews, while reporting outcomes to clients and partners
  • Tax Advisory & Planning
    Provide strategic tax advice across corporate income tax, VAT, and transaction tax, including modeling and risk analysis for acquisitions, dispositions, and restructurings
  • Tax Return Oversight
    Oversee the full lifecycle of tax compliance, including review and sign-off of amended returns, ensuring alignment with ARC protocols and quality standards

  • Technical Memoranda & Opinions
    Draft complex tax review memoranda and opinion letters with far-reaching implications, discussing them with partners and clients to influence decision-making

  • Client Financial Model Review
    Assess tax computations in client financial models and provide quantitative and qualitative analysis to support transaction decisions

  • Cross-Border Tax Structuring
    Advise on inbound and outbound transaction consulting, including international tax research, planning, and compliance

  • Tax Technology & Innovation
    Contribute to product development and innovation, including automation and robotics in tax accounting processes

  • Regulatory Compliance & GAAP Reporting
    Prepare and review GAAP financial tax provisions and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws

  • Team Leadership & Development
    Supervise high-performing teams, provide coaching and mentoring, and ensure technical upskilling through formal learning and feedback

  • Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain tax relationships with clients and provide exceptional levels of client service.
  • Negotiation skills, able to gain buy-in and handle challenges.
  • High level management of the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding consulting projects, ensuring technical excellence and practical / business driven approach taken.
  • Overall responsibility of quality client service.
  • Build networks and relationships internally and externally for the team to leverage from.
  • Contribute to successfully extracting maximum value for both EY and clients from the tax services delivered whilst managing risk appropriately for both client and the firm.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • 7+ years’ experience working in VAT.
  • Trained in practice but may currently be working in either industry, a Tax Authority or in practice.
  • Ability to build strong client relationships and commercially aware.
  • Business development skills, able to identify and convert opportunities to sell work.
  • Strong practical and commercial experience having either advised clients or worked ‘in-house’.
  • Strong VAT technical skills.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to integrate and build effective relationships at all levels.
