This role will be a member of the Private AI Services’ Control Plane team, which is a Kubernetes based control plane that automates the lifecycle of AI Services: Model Gallery, Model Runtime and ML API Gateway, Data Indexing and Retrieval, and Agent Builder. The successful candidate must have experience building Kubernetes based services, and experience participating in upstream Kubernetes and related CNCF projects as a contributor is a major plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver expanded capabilities of Kubernetes-based platform services for AI

• Own the AI platform’s end user / in-product CLI across all components, help guide other teams in how to deliver CLI based experience for the platform

• Decompose vague problems into detailed requirements, and develop solutions that meet the needs of our customers

• Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure the quality and reliability of the Private AI feature set

• Participate in code reviews and ensure that the code is aligned with VMware's coding standards and best practices

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Private AI services and how those services interface with other components of the stack such as storage, networking, etc.

Requirements

• Ability to succeed on an take-home distributed systems homework assignment and in-person technical interview including coding and debugging

• 5+ years experience in scalable distributed systems in Go or C++

• 5+ years of hands on experience with Container technologies (Docker and Kubernetes)

• Hands on experience deploying and maintaining Kubernetes Operators is a big plus

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $192,000

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Understanding of AI workloads and hardware such as scaling infrastructure to meet AI model performance requirements; scaling models across GPUs using constructs such as NVLink, or other similar use cases

• Ability to stand up VCF and Private AI Foundation from a bare metal environment to a fully deployed platform with workloads deployed

• Ability to configure GPUs according to different workload parameters and needs

• Experience writing technical documentation and creating user-friendly blogs and videos on technical products and how to use them

The Livefire team forms part of the Advanced Technical Enablement (ATE) group, and was launched ten years ago as a program to showcase the “art of the possible” and accelerate competence within internal and partner field teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaboratewith technical and engineering teams to curate technical content and develop complex hands-on lab experiences based on the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) solution.

• Deliveradvanced technical enablement, both in-person and remotely. The ability to clearly articulate complex subjects through presentations and white boarding is essential.

• Assistpartners and field personnel with their needs outside the classroom: Statement-of-Work reviews, architecture and design assistance, reverse shadowing of customer engagements, and other assistance as needed.

Required Skills / Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience and minimum of 12 years in a Systems Engineer, Consulting or Architect role OR

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience and minimum of 10 years in a Systems Engineer, Consulting or Architect role.

• 2+ years of that experience developing automation and custom integrations between disparate systems using APIs.

• Extensive experience in VMware products, solutions & services with a particular focus onAria Automationand related technologies.

• Experience with multi-vendor multi-site solutions.

• Scripting or other programming knowledge e.g. Python, Node.JS, Powershell.

• VCP certified.

Preferred Skills / Experience

• VCAP certified.

• Cisco CCNP or equivalent.

• DevOps automation experience.

• Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD certified).

• Hands-on experience with public cloud technologies including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
