Responsibilities
- Design, build, support, and maintain Kubernetes and OpenShift platform infrastructure
- Assist in the design, planning and implementation of container infrastructure solutions
- Capacity planning, tuning, policy and cost management
- Provide technical analysis, resolve problems, propose, and implement solutions
- Provide support to, and coordinate with developers, operations staff, release engineers, and end-users
- Educate and mentor platform consumers, team members and operations staff
- Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours support
- Respond to and assist in production operations in a 24/7 environment
Knowledge and Experience
- Degree in engineering discipline or equivalent experience in Platform Engineering.
- 4+ years of experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift in a Production
- Understanding of major Kubernetes components and familiarity with industry standard implementations of CNI, CSI and ingresses.
- Horizontal and vertical scaling for performance and high availability
- Experience with platform and application observability (tracing, logging metrics)
- Top-tier analytics and problem solving
- Ability to work in a service-oriented team environment
- Project Management, organization, and time management
- Customer focused, and dedicated to the best possible user experience
- Communicate effectively with both technical and business resources
Desired
- Experience with self- Kubernetes and/or OpenShift
- Experience with OpenShift deployments on-prem and in commercial clouds
- Experience with Kubernetes policy engines, e.g. Kyverno
- Experience with performant implementations of service
- 2+ years of experience with Docker and/or Podman
- Build automation and configuration management
- Software development experience (Golang, Python)
- Advanced scripting experience (Python, Bash, Powershell)
- Experience with Amazon EKS, ROSA or ARO.
- Experience with Ansible
- Experience with deployment of Kubernetes / OpenShift onto on prem infrastructure and/or AWS EC2 instances
