What to Expect

Success in this role requires an excellent technical foundation to understand the hardware/software products we are deploying in the physical world. In parallel, you must have a strong desire and proven ability of being an effective leader who surfaces key issues early in a product launch lifecycle, offers strategic solutions, and drives action across an international organization.

What You’ll Do

• Be responsible for achieving volume sales within assigned channel(s)

• Expand sales channels by identifying new partners and supporting contract negotiation

• Anticipate new business opportunities with accounts and identify suitable product offerings to satisfy customer requirements

• Contribute input regarding Tesla’s product and sales strategy for the region

• Provide product feedback to technical team regarding fit and applicability of product design and offering

• Maintain an understanding of market dynamics across relevant sectors (e.g. retail energy, utility, commercial, residential, etc.) and drivers (e.g. policy/regulatory, techno-economics, etc.)

• Define and execute a winning Go-To-Market plan for new energy products, features, and services

• Effectively scope, drive, and launch products, programs and process change initiatives

• Identify and support the sales team to bring new offers, programs and new concepts to the market (such as VPPs, PPAs and leasing offers)

• Provide product training and support to sales teams and B2B partners to ensure they are knowledgeable about Powerwall products

• Collaborate across teams to develop sales collateral, training materials and other tools to support the teams

What You’ll Bring

• Electrical background or Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or technical discipline

• Fluency in Japanese and English

• Direct experience in the introduction of new hardware products and software features

• Direct experience in making a cross-functional change happen within an organization

• Direct experience and comfortability interfacing with external customers

• Familiarity with solar, energy storage, general electrical concepts, and home construction is a strong plus

• Effective communication and exceptional interpersonal skills

• A relentless drive to make things happen

• Ability to operate independently to solve complex, ambiguous product/operational problems

• Experience and comfort working with large datasets to drive decision making

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment
