The Risk organization's Head of Project Management Group is looking for a strongRisk Program Management Leaderfor the Wealth Risk segmentto manage and execute on a diverse slate of multi-year projects to support overall Risk Transformation. This includes ensuring effective and timely execution of all programs under the global Transformation Program and other "change the that Risk Management is responsible for as well as other programs aimed at building and enhancing the Risk organization’scapabilities. Risk Wealth Program Managementleader in the Risk Program Management organization is expected to have a track-record in managing complex, multi-faceted initiatives with multiple stakeholders (Businesses and other functions like Finance, Technology etc.) as well as strong partnership, collaboration and creative problem solving skills to achieve value-adding outcomes. Strong understanding of effective risk management practices as well as thought leadership on meeting regulatory requirements will also be expected of this role. Excellent communication skills are required in order to influence and/or negotiate internally, often at a senior level. The role also requires the ability to set goals and to direct program or project managers to meet or exceed desired outcomes.
Project manage the Book of Work within Risk Wealth Management segment, in partnership with other Program Management leads and the CAO office, businesses and other functions, with best-in-class execution discipline
- Lead a team of project managers, risk professionals, BAs and Agile specialists to provide support to new or existing programs
- Develop a deep understanding of the Target State and Outcomes for the Book of Work, and each project within it, for the assigned portfolio of projects
- Ensure robust ownership and accountability model for each project for each project / program under management, including a governance that enables comprehensive engagement, transparency, oversight, approvals and escalations
- Ensure that each program under management has clarity on objectives / outcomes with clear, well-defined milestones to achieve these outcomes
- Ensure that each program’s execution is on track to address supervisory expectations and underlying issues / root causes with clear, well-defined, measurable outcomes (risk mitigation, control enhancement, process simplification, enhanced delivery of firm to clients, etc.)
- Conduct pro-active Project Risk Management, including actionable risk mitigation strategies
- Identify and escalate program constraints (e.g., lack of clarity on outcomes, ineffective program management, resource constraints, lack of stakeholder support, etc.) in collaboration with Program Leads and provide staffing support for major initiatives to augment embedded staff, as needed
- Own all aspects of the project / program portfolio reporting process, including: RAG ratings, key performance indicators, status updates, adherence to dates and deliverables and quality of deliverables
- Provide input to continuously enhance Risk Management’s program management practices in collaboration with the CAO Transformation Group
- Continuously strengthen the capabilities across the talent in the organization while learning from internal / external best practices
- Confirm effectiveness of existing governance / execution processes for all portfolio projects, identify and fix issues, escalate in a proactive manner
- Identify capabilities needed for SME or program management team and ensure adequate staffing on a timely basis for all projects within portfolio
- Provide review and challenge of plans for each program, including definition and timing of work streams, deliverables and other milestones against commitments, dependencies, and staffing
- Continuously ensure that programs have clearly identified the required roles and responsibilities and have appropriately identified, and are engaging, all relevant Citi stakeholders with appropriate accountability
- Ensure that the right partnership and engagement model is in place with other functions and businesses to achieve program objectives
- Perform end-to-end review and challenge of program deliverables to confirm quality and adequacy of deliverables against program target state
- Look across programs and initiatives to identify related and interdependent elements, understand strategic impact, balance priorities, mitigate issues and provide recommendations, where needed, for combining or connecting initiatives to achieve greater effectiveness and efficiency
- Escalate any concerns related to program structure, resourcing or execution as required/applicable
- Support communication to internal and external stakeholders (e.g. regulatory updates, Board updates)
- Conduct continuous mentoring and coaching of program manager team, including Program Management Success Coaching, handle all aspects of performance management and timely performance feedback
Qualifications
- At least 10-12 years’ experience in genuine Program management or consulting roles during which s/he applied a structured approach (methodology) to the successful management, tracking, planning, monitoring and reporting of concurrent, multiple financial services projects spanning broad geographies and organizations
- Significant experience with Project Management methodologies, frameworks and tools including Agile.
- Understanding of relevant banking regulation and supervisory expectations for large complex financial institutions, particularly in the risk management space
- Track-record in successfully managing large scale, complex, multi-faceted cross-company initiatives with clear, value-adding outcomes
- Ability to quickly come up to speed on multiple topics concurrently (e.g. risk frameworks, processes that are being remediated / transformed) to be able to understand program objectives and to oversee / contribute effectively to their execution
- Demonstrated ability to think in an agile, creative and strategic manner to evolve or solve challenges and issues and to oversee prioritization of competing responsibilities
- Strongly preferred prior experience and understanding of one or more risk management disciplines in a large global bank environment (e.g. operational risk, credit risk, market risk, risk identification and assessment, risk appetite, etc.).
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills - able to identify and influence key decision makers across various levels and functions within the organization; defuse conflict and work toward agreement
- Consistently demonstrate executive clear and concise written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage at the most senior management levels
- Self-motivated and detail oriented with an ability to take reasoned decisions under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills, with evidence of working in collaboration across large organizations, including a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicatingissues/requests
- Track record of managing internal relationships and demonstrated experience in leading sustained change and change management efforts
- Bachelor’s/Universitydegree, Master’s degree preferred and managerial experience
