Interns Group, Interns Group > Interim Engineering Intern - SW
As a Qualcomm, you’ll have the opportunity to work with world-class security engineers to improve the security of Qualcomm systems and products that are the core of billions of mobile, IoT and connectivity devices that people use every day. The scope of work covers the entire stack of device security, ranging from hardware, firmware, systems, OTA (Over-The-Air) stacks and applications. During the internship, you will gain experience and insight on protecting real world devices against attacks.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a BS, MS, or PhD program in ECE, CS, Security or related field.
Must be available for 11 – 14 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-September) with a graduation date of December 2025 or later
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates actively pursuing a degree with an anticipated graduation within the upcoming year preferred Dec 2025 to June 2026 are encouraged to apply.
Candidates with academic or professional experience in one of the following technical tracks:
Product Security Engineering
Depending on your interest and academic experience, the choice of your intern project could be from one of the focused areas such as threat modeling and security risk assessment on hardware/software subsystems, fuzzing, program analysis (source and binary), exploit countermeasures, applied cryptographic assessment, 4G/5G cellular security, systems security, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth security, software supply chain security, hardware-based side-channel attack mitigations, and product security incident response.
Skills in one or more of the following areas are desired: program analysis (source and binary), supply chain security, hardware/software vulnerability research, hardware/software exploit mitigations, secure execution environment, hardware security, AI model security, 4G/5G cellular security, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth security
1+ years’ academic experience in computer systems security or embedded device security
Great at technical problem solving and have excellent programming skills
Preferred Candidates are studying towards an MS or PhD in related field
Secure Systems (Security) Engineering
Depending on your interest and academic experience, the choice of your intern project could be from one of the focused areas such as secure operating system features, hypervisor features, secure boot features, practical key management (both on a mobile device and in backend secure servers), intersection of automotive safety and security, methods to improve security programmatically.
Candidates should have a good knowledge of systems security, operating systems, hypervisors, or trusted execution environments
Great at technical problem solving and have excellent programming skills
Strong security interest in securing mobile devices and the security of programming languages
1+ years’ academic experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
Preferred candidates studying towards BS or MS in ECE, CS, Math, or related field
