JOB DESCRIPTION

An excellent career opportunity is currently available for an Advanced R&D Engineer Scientist - Electrocatalyst Specialist within Green H2 Growth Vector group located in Des Plaines, IL. You will be responsible for the electrocatalyst design, discovery, synthesis, characterization, electrocatalytic property evaluation, and scale up for the development of Honeywell UOP’s breakthrough technologies for Green H2, fuel cell, and other electrochemical reactions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, synthesis, characterization, electrocatalytic property evaluation, and scaling up of new electrocatalysts for clean energy transition in the development of breakthrough technologies for Green H2, fuel cell, and other electrochemical reactions
  • Establish new electrocatalyst synthesis, characterization, and testing capabilities as needed
  • Operate, maintain, and trouble-shoot lab instruments
  • Carry out required experiments and consistently verify the link between the planned experiment and the project targets
  • Evaluate, interpret, and present detailed and accurate data to other researchers. Summarize presentation notes and ascertain action plans
  • Collaborate and communicate important project results to multi-functional program teams
  • Ensure accurate alignment of goals of the project with business objectives and deliverables of the project that timely meet project targets to commercialization
  • Participate in all departmental safety and HOS activities and conduct all work with a high degree of attention to safety.
    Utilize six-sigma tools as necessary to implement project work

Compensation and Benefits

The annual basesalary range for this position is $122,000 -$153,000. Please note that this salaryinformation serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factorswhen extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope andresponsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, educationand training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.


YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 5+ years of experience

WE VALUE:

  • B.S. or B.E. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Catalysis, or Electrocatalysis
  • 1+ years of industry experience preferred
  • Proficient with a well-rounded background in electrocatalysis
  • Hands-on experience with electrocatalyst synthesis, characterization, and testing
  • Hands-on experience with design, installation, and modification of lab equipment
  • Knowledge and experience in electrocatalyst scaling up and applications
  • Knowledge and experience in membrane-based water electrolysis, fuel cell, and batteries
  • Knowledge and experience in design of experiment and data interpretation/statistics
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - oral and written
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong demonstration of teamwork abilities
