This role is part of Microsoft’s Global Security Investigations team, which delivers scalable, best-in-class threat management and investigative services to mitigate physical risks to employees, external staff, guests, and facilities. The team investigates potential policy violations and other offenses against the company.

  • , Accounting, Criminal Justice, Law, International Relations or related field AND 8+years experiencein compliance, cyber, finance, data-analytics,investigations, orrelated field OR equivalent experience.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in behavioral sciences, threat assessment, targetedviolenceand related physical security/safety risk.
  • Certified Threat Manager (CTM), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) and/or Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
  • Proficient in the use of technology, computers (hardware, operating systems, networks), and software at a power user level (M365, Outlook, Excel, Word,Powerpoint, Access/SQL,PowerBI, SharePoint, Copilot, etc.).
  • Possess or able toaccomplisha US government security clearance.

Investigations IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.

Responsibilities

Case Development and Preparation

  • identifiesand triages highlycomplex,higher risk reported issues todeterminetheir priority. Organizes information and definesnextsteps for investigations ofhigh risk, impact, or exposure. Facilitates discussions on developing tactical investigationstrategyand direction. Assesses and communicates immediate and potential risks to leadership and keystakeholders, andoffers suggestions for overcoming potential obstaclesin a timely manner.
  • identifiesand interprets broader, complex sources of information andappropriate investigativetools and technologies to resolve investigations ofhigh risk, impact, or exposure. Coordinates and collaborates with relevant internalstakeholders to executeobjectives. Distills information from complex data to prepare investigation plans and procedures.
  • identifies,gathers, and reviews underlying documentation, internal and external data, relevant facts, and internal and external industry trends related to investigative matters. Compiles data from different complex sources, tracks and records the findings toassistthe investigation. May collaborate with colleagues to source and interpret relevant data.
  • May independentlyutilizeadvanced interview skills to schedule and conducthighly complexinterviews to gather relevant information,establishfacts, anddetermineroot causes. Leverages compiled data from data review and synthesis during interviews to advance investigation. Conducts complex analysesoninformation gathered during interviews tovalidatefacts, generate insights, andidentifygaps or outliers in known information. Simplifies complex topics to assess root-cause analyses and remediation efforts.

Case Management

  • Independently manages and monitors supplier, internal/external partner, stakeholder resources to drive cases to an outcome. May manage programs,trainings, supplierutilizationstrategies, and resources within budget, resulting in theutilizationof resources and cost effectiveness. Drives management of stakeholder expectations.
  • Independently documents complex case activitiesin accordance withglobal team standards.Developscomplex reports to include relevant investigation information,maintainclear communication on the progress and next steps, and deliver succinct work products to help make informed decisions.
  • Independently informs customers, partners, stakeholders, and direct management about the progress of active cases/issues, recommends next steps and actions, and communicates challenges and areas of improvement.Assistsstakeholders in addressing complexriskand improving operation effectiveness and expectations.RepresentsMicrosoft tohigh-profile internal and external stakeholders on complex investigative cases. Shares actionable intelligence, reports risks, and encourages feedback from the stakeholders to improve operational and investigative effectiveness.
