What you’ll do
: Lead and manage a team of Level 2 system administrators, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
System Administration: Oversee the administration of UNIX (e.g., Linux, Solaris) and Windows servers, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.
Incident and Problem Management: Manage and resolve escalated incidents and problems, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on business operations.
Maintenance and Upgrades: Plan and oversee system maintenance activities, including patch management, software updates, and hardware upgrades.
Monitoring and Reporting: Implement and maintain monitoring systems to track server performance, availability, and security; generate and review regular reports.
Security Management: Ensure servers are secure and comply with organizational
Vendor Management: Manage relationships with hardware and software vendors, including support contracts and service agreements.
Compliance: Ensure systems comply with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
What we’ll need from you
: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in UNIX and Windows system administration.
At least 2 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in UNIX (Linux, Solaris) and Windows server environments.
Experience with system monitoring and management tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds).
Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell).
Understanding of network protocols, storage solutions, and virtualization technologies.
Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
