3M is seeking Re-Machinist candidates in Lexington, Kentucky!

To learn and perform advanced hand lathe machining related to forming and shaping of dispenser cathode emitting surfaces and bodies. Follow work instructions and method sheets. Work under minimal supervision based on task proficiency. These tasks are completed by utilizing grinders to shape and sharpen tools, making or selecting collets, surface finish comparison and analysis, referencing work instructions, method sheets and engineering prints to meet quality, productivity and efficiency of each operation sequence. Tasks also require the use of small hand tools along with constant work under a microscope to assemble all part types.

As a Re-Machinist you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Complete advanced machine shop tasks using small hand tools as directed by method sheets and blueprints while under minimal supervision.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area while following all plant rules and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designate.
  • Operators are required to complete all training matrices before advancing to next appropriate job grade.
  • Participate in all safety and regulatory training needed to fulfill the duties of the position.
  • Follow all plant safety rules and regulations, wear PPE as required per procedures.


To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the followingqualifications:

  • Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school OR 2 years related experience

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Requires extremely good judgement and knowledge of parts and equipment.
  • Ability to ask for help and recognize when issues need to be escalated to trainer, supervisor, manager or designee. Ability to distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable product via visual inspection. Good problem solving abilities is a necessary attribute. Ability to help Engineering problem solve on re-work or non-confirming product.
  • Job duties require good manual dexterity. Eye/hand coordination is required to manipulate parts, ceramics, hand tools and scales while working under a microscope for extended periods of time. Ability to stand for extended periods of time up to and including all-day. Must be able to lift 25-30
