What to Expect

The Tesla Dimensional Analysis team is critical to the engineering design and development of new products at Tesla. We simulate high-volume manufacturing and influence part and process design to deliver world class quality in all our products. The team is highly skilled in computational analysis as well as statistical data analysis techniques. We have a broad responsibility that extends from the very smallest dimensional precision requirements of a battery cell through to the functional requirements of large castings and assemblies.

What You’ll Do
  • Dimensional CAE simulation – Utilizing dedicated dimensional variation analysis software to analyze and communicate dimensional requirements within engineering teams and with a global manufacturing and supplier base
  • Full vehicle exposure – The Dimensional Analysis team gets involved in the mechanical design of most vehicle systems, from seats to battery packs and autopilot hardware
  • Design Cycle Experience – the team works on parallel design programs, so there is the opportunity to get involved in every stage of the design cycle from early design concept to production ramp-up
  • Cross functional Interaction – Through the Dimensional Engineering process, there are very broad interactions with other teams including Styling, Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and many more
  • GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) expertise – GD&T is a key skill that any mechanical designer should be fluent in. It will be one of the most useful assets throughout your career
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years' experience in Computer Aided Engineering, dimensional engineering, metrology, or CAE role
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and a robust first-principals approach
  • Catia or similar CAD system experience
  • Comfortable with multi-variable capability analysis and statistical testing
  • Proficiency in 1D and 3D dimensional variation root cause analysis preferred
  • Familiarity GD&T and ASME Y14.5 preferred
