The PPEU Senior Data Control Specialist is part of the Team responsible for overseeing and optimizing the reporting processes and operational functions within PPEU. You will help to drive our organization's compliance with regulatory data governance obligations and ensure data quality and operational efficiency.
You will work closely with PPEU, Global colleagues and leadership to ensure effective data management and reporting requirements in line with applicable requirements, including regulations and guidelines issued by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), Banque centrale du Luxembourg (BCL) and European Central Bank (ECB).
To be successful, you will also have awareness and understanding of baseline requirements on data management from European-level bodies like the European Banking Authority (EBA), the European Commission, and the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS).
You will report to the Senior Reporting and Operations Manager.
Data Governance and Quality Assurance:
- Support the implementation and execution of Data Governance and Quality Assurance in compliance with Risk Data Aggregation and Reporting Requirements (RDARR) and BCBS-239 standards, ensuring data quality and governance practices align with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Support the ongoing monitoring of data governance and risk management Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure compliance, efficiency, and quality.
- Conduct data validation and integrity checks to identify and resolve discrepancies across financial, risk, and operational datasets.
- Monitor risk data aggregation processes to support stress testing, capital adequacy reporting, and other supervisory exercises.
- Enhance exception management frameworks to identify and mitigate data inaccuracies and operational risk exposures proactively.
- Establish and maintain reference data governance policies, procedures and processes to support financial and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Optimize workflows and controls for streamlined data aggregation, transformation, and reconciliation in compliance with data governance standards.
Regulatory Reporting and Assurance:
- Support the preparation and validation of mandatory reports, including FINREP, COREP, Stress Testing, and ESG data disclosures.
- Facilitate compliance with ECB, EBA, and broader EU regulations (e.g., GDPR, DORA etc.) by ensuring robust data controls and security measures.
- Support the implementation of processes to monitor data accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and reliability across operational and financial reporting pipelines.
- Prepare regular reports summarizing progress on data quality, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation activities and communicate these through attendance of relevant governance forums such as the Operations, Risk and Compliance Committee (OCRC).
- Collaborate on internal Second Line of Defence (SLOD) compliance monitoring reviews and Internal audits, and external regulatory inspections to ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of data management systems and processes.
- Recommend refinements to internal processes to address gaps and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards in all reporting and operational activities
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in reporting and operations to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Stakeholder Management
- Assist in maintaining effective communication channels between management and technical teams, such as Compliance, Risk, IT, InfoSec, Internal Audit, and Global Data Governance, helping to ensure all relevant parties stay informed and coordinated.
- Help prepare status reports and presentations designed for senior leadership and key stakeholders by gathering relevant information and contributing to clear, concise updates on program progress, challenges, and upcoming actions.
- Collaborate with the Global Regulatory Relations (GRR), Government Relations (GR), and Regulatory Compliance teams to supportrelationship-buildingefforts with regulatory authorities, facilitating open communication and helping maintain positive interactions.
- Participate in industry working groups and forums related to regulatory topics by contributing insights, learning best practices, and supporting the organization’s engagement with collective compliance initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Data Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience in of experience in data governance, regulatory compliance, or data analytics in the financial services sector.
- Strong knowledge of ECB-supervised regulations (RDARR, BCBS-239, GDPR, FINREP, COREP, DORA) and EU Banking Union Standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with expertise in data analysis, business intelligence tools, and reporting software.
- Proficient in analytical tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Excel, Power BI) and experience with automation/software solutions for reporting and data governance.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
