As a SBA Eligibility Approval Officer within the Business Banking team, you will play a pivotal role in our operations by providing essential support for our SBA products. You will serve as the primary source of technical, processing, and procedural assistance for the Business Loan Centers. Your responsibilities will include assessing whether Small Business Administration (SBA) credit applications adhere to eligibility guidelines for less complex SBA borrowing. Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and review less complex SBA credit applications and requests for modification to undisbursed or existing SBA loans for determination of SBA eligibility
- Verify SBA packages are complete and in compliance with credit policies and SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Obtain and review critical documentation needed for SBA eligibility determination, and document preparation by working with Credit Coordinators, SBA Solutions Consultants (SSCs), Specialty Solutions Officers (SSOs) and Business Relationship Managers (BRMs)
- Assist in collection of SBA specific documentation during the post approval process
- Learn and keep up to date on SBA SOP, while gaining an expert knowledge of credit policy, Fair Lending, Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and other compliance regulations
- Provide guidance to conventional underwriters on eligibility, packaging, and processes for non-complex SBA applications.
- Foster open communications with other departments and other lines of business; Be responsive to inquiries from all job families and customers
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- At least 1 year of experience working with SBA programs and operating procedures
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of commercial loan credit structures and loan documentation
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 1-3 years experience as a BRM, underwriter or in a similar related position requiring business/commercial credit knowledge and credit judgment
- Working knowledge of Chase credit policy, procedures and bank regulations
