Responsibilities:
Provide support to perimeter security infrastructure, which includes firewall, proxy and remote access systems
Investigation, documentation and resolution of outages to critical business systems that may be caused by firewall, proxy, or remote access systems
Escalation of issues to, and tracking of progress in conjunction with internal engineering teams, vendors, or other technical resource teams
Working incidents or projects beyond the scope of the level 2 team which may include scheduling multiple changes, software upgrades, or configuration activities to resolve
Create complex project plans, perform impact analyses solve/work high impact problems/projects, and provide resolutions to restore services
Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) post restoration of service for firewall platforms
Provide support, trouble-shooting and traffic confirmation for firewall platforms
Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
Critical Competencies Required:
Experienced with Checkpoint and PaloAlto Networks firewalls, Configuration and troubleshooting skillsets.
Detailed knowledge of TCP/IP data flows and troubleshooting.
Understanding of network routing, including BGP and troubleshooting required.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in firewall support, with a proven track record of operational process change and improvement.
Skilled in use and interpretation of tcpdump/pcap/wireshark.
Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities with attention to detail, ability to work in a demanding environment.
Preferred to also have working knowledge of Bluecoat proxy, Cisco Firepower with AnyConnect client, and Zscaler ZIA.
Relevant certifications preferred: Checkpoint and Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
