Job Description

The Group Decision-Making and Governance Office (GDMGO) is responsible for driving our governance principles, architecture, and best practices. It addresses the requirement that our primary risk types are considered in the correct governance forums, aligned with oversight by the appropriate board-level committees.

Enhancing the effectiveness of Citi’s global decision-making and governance processes has been a critical aspect of our Transformation and will continue to be critical as Citi looks to drive performance intensity, grow returns, and fix what has held us back, whilst running the bank with the requisite rigor and accountability.

The Group Governance Officer will play a critical role in delivering the strategic priorities of the GDMGO, including establishing policy and guidance, as well as the delivery of our key control processes. The work involves liaising with senior stakeholders across the firm, developing understanding of governance processes and our key risk areas, as well as embodying Citi’s cultural aspirations.

  • Experience of supporting corporate governance procedures and committees
  • Demonstrable experience of evaluating, designing and testing controls
  • Exposure to working in a complex global environment, and / or engagement with senior personnel
  • Project management experience in regulatory or financial services areas; or
  • Experience in drafting complex documents.

Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will differ depending on where and how your skills and experience can be best used to achieve the objectives of the new office, but responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of minimum standards and best practices for governance forums throughout Citi;
  • Assessing coverage and representation of Functions, Products, Regions and Legal Entities in governance forums to allow for holistic and inclusive governance, decision-making and operationalization of key initiatives;
  • Supporting the development and implementation of standardized governance frameworks complete with templates and minimum standards;
  • Supporting Senior Managers in the Functions, Products, Regions and Legal Entities in driving consistent and effective embedding of governance, risk and control environment;
  • Raising the overall quality and consistency of approach to governance and risk and controls environment by Senior Managers, and fostering effective oversight and focus on legal entities through assessment, guidance and engagement;
  • Reading across common themes, and helping front-to-back connection of Functions, Products, Regions and Legal Entities;
  • Identification of common themes and emerging risks in governance forums;
  • Supporting the development and implementation of enhancements in Governance and Decision Making;
  • Administering/implementing training on accountability, effective oversight and challenge in governance and management forums;
  • Design and communicate MCA standards for governance; and
  • Participate in MCA annual risk assessments and challenge sessions for governance forums.
