Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Junior Social Media professional, you will build and evolve IBM’s social media presence in Japan. You will be responsible for translating IBM’s brand story across the social channels (e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube), adapting content for platforms, the Japanese audience and culture, and geo-specific priorities. In this position you will develop and manage day-to-day social posts in partnership with teammates and cross-functional teams, driving plans through execution and measurement.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

Social Media Management:
• Understand and execute on social media strategies that align with IBM’s marketing and communications objectives using a researched approach that considers platform strengths, target audience, and platform best practices
• Under the guidance and support of the social team leader, develop social media content and manage day-to-day posting in key channels (e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, X)
• Monitor and measure social media performance and use data to optimize social media strategy over time
• Leverage deep curiosity to build an understanding of the market, target audiences and IBM’s offerings to help create the most compelling messaging and content.
• Develop a keen understanding of how to connect business priorities to culture through intentional social storytelling
• Ensure alignment with IBM’s audit requirements for social posts and collect/record required evidence, such as consent from third-party stakeholders and adherence to copyright requirements

Content Development:
• Take social media post requests from internal stakeholders (business units, marketing, communications) and translate those into compelling messaging for IBM’s target audience
• Develop simple creatives for social media posts such as short videos or infographics


• Experience managing social media accounts, either in-house or at an ad or PR agency
• Experience understanding and executing on the organization’s social strategies
• Knowledge of social media landscape from a brand point of view
• Outstanding communication and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communications in Japanese (Native or JPLT N1-2)
• Experience in working with global stakeholders in English
• Working knowledge of project management tools such as Slack, Trello, Airtable and Box
• Proficiency with social media management and analytics tools such as Sprinklr and Khoros is a plus
• Graphic and video editing skills (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier Pro)
