The primary responsibility of the Technical Services Veterinarian is to execute the Companion Animal Business Unit (CABU) ANZ Technical Services strategy and tactical plans to achieve business outcomes, drive sales and market share growth, maximise biopharma and identification/monitoring portfolio opportunities including launches, provide first class technical support to our customers and stakeholders, and support the technical needs of the sales regions. In doing so, this individual will interact with our customers on a technical level through customer phone calls and value adding communication formats. The Technical Services Veterinarian will also assist in the preparation of technical materials aligned with the marketing strategy, including the development of effective product training programs for staff and stakeholders.

Of critical importance to the successful execution of this role is the ability communicate technical information effectively to a range of audiences. Alignment with the role that the technical services team plays in the commercial success of the marketing and sales teams is required so that appropriate technical review of materials is provided with attention to detail being a key competency.

The Technical Services Veterinarian sits within the CABU organisation and reports to the Technical Services Lead CABU ANZ.

Technical Customer Service to Veterinarians, Veterinary Clinics, Pet Retail Stores and Consumers

  • Provide technical advice to veterinarians, veterinary clinic and pet retail store staff, and consumers on company products.
  • Provide or source information necessary to answer technical enquiries regarding the company products and services.
  • Communicate with customers (primarily via telephone and email) to help resolve medical issues with patients experiencing adverse reactions or efficacy issues with our company’s Animal Health Companion Animal products.
  • Initiate product quality testing procedures when applicable.
  • Facilitate and consult on diagnostics.
  • Process product efficacy guarantee requests.
  • Negotiate reimbursement requests.
  • Ensure adoption, best practice use, and value capture of CRM with respect to case entries for Adverse Events, Product Quality Complaints and Technical Enquiries.

Technical Services

  • Successfully execute the Technical Services strategy and action plans to achieve business goals.
  • Ensure that product literature, promotional activity, packaging and labelling comply with technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with the Technical Services Lead ANZ in developing and updating technical information pieces for veterinarians, pet retail stores and consumers as determined with marketing.

Operational Collaboration

  • Communicate adverse event issues with the appropriate Animal Health field representatives.
  • Provide on-the-job technical training for customer service teams on a regular basis.
  • Ensure effective communication across the sales, key account and marketing teams through sharing technical knowledge and participating positively in sales team meetings and marketing-initiated forums.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities and provide strategic and tactical recommendations to grow our company’s Animal Health sales and market share.
  • Ensure all business activity complies with all relevant Acts, Policies, and Procedures.

Learning and Development

  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge, as well as a broader understanding of Animal Health issues.
  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge for competitor products to ensure appropriate positioning of our company’s Animal Health products.

Documentation and Pharmacovigilance (PV) Responsibilities

  • Maintain all documentation in accordance with our company’s Animal Health and relevant quality standards.
  • Undergo PV training to ensure familiarity with the required reporting processes and timelines for Adverse Events and Product Quality complaints.
  • Ensure that all potential PV and Product Quality Complaint information encountered is reported as per the PV reporting processes and timelines described in your local and global PV/ Product Quality Complaint training.
  • Undertake PV related activities as assigned by the manager. These may include (but are not limited to) review of scientific literature for potential PV related company Animal Health product information, assistance with training of colleagues in various aspects of PV, supporting the marketing teams to ensure potential PV information is identified and reported correctly during market research, post registration studies and social media activities.
  • Liaise with the PV team to ensure where necessary any agreements with 3rd parties (e.g. consultants) cover the necessary aspects of PV (including training).

What You Must Have

  • A Veterinary Degree and Registration with the NSW Veterinary Surgeons Board is essential.
  • Post-Graduate qualifications, such as membership of the Australian College, are an advantage.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in clinical companion animal veterinary general or specialty practice
  • Experience with companion animal vaccines and parasiticides; industry experience, research experience not essential but preferred
  • Knowledge of Companion Animal medicine and surgery desirable.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Highly developed skills in establishing, influencing and maintaining business relationships.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including confidence to deliver training.
  • Excellent interpersonal and phone skills, with a strong commitment to Customer Service.
  • Computer literacy and strong comfort level working with databases.
  • Preferred experience with Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
  • Compliance focused mindset and strong organizational skills.
  • Highly competent in numerical analysis, technical and verbal data, with a sound and logical approach to problem solving.
  • Self-starter with initiative who works well with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and to make decisions on a day-to-day basis concerning routine activities.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
