Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    • OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    • OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in deep learning and its different toolkits particularly Pytorch or Tensorflow
  • 5+ years of Python and C++ (especially C++11 and newer) experience
  • 5+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines with Azure Devops, Github/Gitlab, Jenkins/buildbot or similar, packaging and deployment.
  • 3+ years experience with model compression and optimization techniques particularly for large transformer style models

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in post training model optimization and quantization techniques such as GPTQ, LORA etc..
  • Experience in fine tuning efficient teacher architectures, fast LLM adaption, token sparsification, token-free LLMs.
  • Experience in fine-tuning models based on hugging face LLMs, BERT, GPT-3 or Llama.
  • Prototyping products with aim to create minimum viable products with existing tools and models.
  • Publication record in the areas of Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing in top-tier conferences or journals (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICLR).

Responsibilities
  • Lead the engineering aspect of research, fine tune and optimize LLMs and transformer style models for local and Hybrid Inferencing
  • Contribute to the technical design, architecture, development, and evaluation of large language models.
  • Integrate LLMs and other large models to run on devices.
  • Collaborate with engineering and lead product development teams.
  • Contribute to a real-time system involving multiple components.
  • Plan feature integration timeline and roadmap to take prototypes to production.
  • Improve system quality through the design and implementation of new testing methodologies.
