Minimum Qualifications:

• Juris Doctorate degree or international equivalent.

• 8+ years of relevant experience as counsel at a law firm or in-house.

• Active bar license to practice law in the state or jurisdiction where the employee will be practicing (or ability to obtain upon hiring).

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

The Legal Counsel, Senior’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating patent license agreements.

  • Supporting the litigation team in connection with any patent enforcement actions brought by Qualcomm and responding to third-party discovery requests relating to Qualcomm’s patent licensing business.

  • Advising other business units on licensing-related legal matters.

  • Supporting the company’s efforts relating to patent licensing policy and advocacy, particularly regarding FRAND licensing practices for standard essential patents.

  • Coordinating with other legal team members and outside counsel on cross-functional matters.

  • Developing and maintaining standard templates, policies, and procedures for technology transactions.

  • Providing training and guidance to business teams on technology agreements and related topics.

Preferred Qualifications And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Technical or Engineering field.

  • 9+ years of relevant experience practicing law at a law firm or in-house, including at least 4 years of law firm patent litigation experience and at least 3 years of experience with contract drafting and negotiation.

  • Significant experience relating to the licensing of standard essential patents, FRAND issues, cellular communications, multimedia, semiconductors, software, and/or related technologies.

  • Strong knowledge and experience in intellectual property laws.

  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a proactive and problem-solving mindset, while managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Strong work ethic and dedication, proactive engagement on issues, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and ability to think and act strategically and tactically, while demonstrating sound business judgment.

  • High ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

San Diego, CA (current policy requires 4 days a week on average in the office); This position requires travel, as necessary.

Pay range:

$179,000.00 - $269,000.00
