Defect Inspection Engineer - Metrology

As a Defect Inspection Engineer within WSD, you will develop and maintain the unit processes specific to inspection of wafers for defects. You’ll create methods to identify key defects of interest (DOI), working closely with Integration and Yield teams in our fabrication facilities located in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement automated inspection processes and procedures to ensure products meet quality standards.

  • Work closely with Equipment Engineering and Maintenance teams, as well as Field Service Engineers, to meet availability and manufacturing targets.

  • Collaborate with Integration, Yield, Research & Development, and Operations teams to monitor product quality and improve manufacturing efficiency.

  • Maintain documentation, including inspection setup protocols, Controlled Documents, How-To’s, and Out of Control Action Plans (OCAPs).

  • Assist in the development of training materials and provide training/support to Process Technicians and Operators regarding defect identification techniques, and system support.

  • Collaborate with Customer Support Engineers (CSEs) to implement Best Known Methods (BKMs) from equipment vendors.

  • Respond to emergent needs for new products and novel data collection, directly supporting Manufacturing and Research & Development teams.

  • Implement changes by working within a Control Board structure that follows the Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) framework.

  • System design and integration for data collection, analysis, and recording tool data and inspection outputs.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Quality Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline and 5 years of experience in Defect Inspection, Semiconductor Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, or other related fields or M.S. degree or higher preferred in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Quality Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline and 3+ years of experience in Defect Inspection, Semiconductor Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, or other related fields.

  • Proficiency in defect inspection techniques and equipment. Strong understanding of quality control standards, methodologies, and tools.

  • Excellent teamwork and good verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated strong partnership skills with Operations and Equipment Maintenance organizations.

  • Good problem solving skills. Sound analytical techniques and ability to solve problems systematically. Design of Experiment (DOE), characterization, and optimization capabilities. Strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and proficiency with data science and SPC software. Familiarity applying Lean manufacturing, Six-Sigma, and similar principles to complex issues.

  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Additional knowledge/experience in one or more of the following areas preferred:Metrology, Integration, Yield, Defect Analysis, Electrical Test, semiconductor device physics, general processing techniques/concepts for SAW/BAW/FBAR filter devices

  • Able to work in a clean room environment, adhering to strict cleanliness protocols and wearing required clean room attire to maintain a contamination-free workspace.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $91,000 - $146,000.

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
