What you need to know about the role

Job Description:

You will work with the Product and User Experience teams to help form the road map, set technical direction, and manage projects through to delivery. Through mentorship and leadership, you will instill a customer champion culture working to continuously improve all aspects of the team.

Your day-to-day

  • Provide technical and domain thought-leadership and mentoring to junior members of the team.
  • Manage and deliver complex software development projects with quality and per schedule.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications - a bridge between business and technical domains.
  • Consult with business units on feasibility, technical requirements, and development effort for new initiatives.
  • Work with other engineering managers, engineers, and quality assurance engineers to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs with regards to functionality, performance, reliability, and quality.
  • Hire and retain strong and innovative mobile development engineers - Android, iOS and Java.
  • Work with the core Application team to maintain the overall application goals such as application size, performance, etc.
  • Identify areas of technical improvement and make detailed business cases for improvements or new areas of opportunities.
  • Define and devise processes, tools, and methodologies to achieve excellence in software development, testing, and deployment.

What do you need tobring

  • BS in Computer Science or related experience.
  • 6+ years related industry experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in managing high performing teams.
  • Experience in managing iOS, Android, and Java engineers for a consumer facing product.
  • Solid understanding of iOS and Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices.
  • Experience building iOS and/or Android applications connected to RESTful APIs.
  • Solid knowledge of algorithms with good problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities .
  • Ability to objectively appraise and provide valuable feedback to the individuals in the team.
  • Ability to make hire/no-hire decisions objectively.
  • Ability to determine impact of architectural solutions and recommendations.
  • Experience in justification of technology solutions to business leaders along with senior engineers.
  • Experience with a version control system (GIT, SVN, CVS, etc.).
  • Highly effective at working in cross-functional groups and getting results in a matrix organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills; ability to produce clear, concise communications and documentation.
