As a part of Jacobs’ Construction and Logistics Advisory team, you will support the successful delivery of projects by providing constructability expertise, primarily during outline design and consent phases. You will provide expertise to help create the construction strategy, phasing, methodology and programme, taking account of and integrating emerging environmental and logistical constraints and construction best practice.
The role will involve liaison between other Jacobs departments, disciplines, contractors and external agencies and clients. Role details, Skills, Experience, Behaviours You will be required to provide technical input mainly during pre-construction, including:
- Temporary works,
- Lifting and plant solutions
- Earthworks and mass haulage
- Traffic management
- Construction logistics
- CDM and Principal Designer, Principal Contractor obligations, or other local regulatory responsibilities
Responsibilities typically entail producing the constructability input for specific projects including drafting option assessments, assessing construction risks with proposed mitigations and provision of best practice advice. Key to the role is informing the design and enabling for a more buildable and safer solution. You will need to be able to work independently and take initiative.
You will need a broad range of experience in many areas of construction and be able to identify risks, propose mitigation and support the team in resolving. Dependant on the project, you will be expected to lead the construction and logistics advisory role as a sole representative.
The Construction Manager is required to co-ordinate, co-operate and liaise with other Jacobs departments, contractors, clients and potentially external bodies primarily for the purposes of design development. As such, you will require confidence, good communication and management skills to ensure that the constructability input is conveyed appropriately and given due consideration.
- An appropriate degree or diploma as well as membership of an appropriate professional body, or working towards
- You will have a demonstrable track record of on-site experience directly delivering a broad range of multi-sector construction or engineering projects and sectors e.g., mechanical, nuclear, marine, rail, aviation, infrastructure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Ability to draft credible, deliverable construction sequences and schedules, taking into account client requirements, shut-downs, closures and possession availability, logistics, and environmental constraints.
- Experience using digital tools including 4D modelling and drafting schedules would be advantageous.
- Experience of modularisation, virtual design and construction (VDC) and digital construction is advantageous
