What a typical day looks like:
- Provide strategic and practical legal advice to HR and business leaders on a broad range of U.S. employment law issues, including hiring, performance management, accommodations, wage & hour, leaves of absence, workforce reductions, immigration, and workplace investigations
- Handle employment-related court and administrative agency disputes, including managing outside counsel where appropriate and coordination with internal teams throughout all stages of litigation
- Draft and review employment documentation such as offer letters, severance agreements, workplace rules and policies
- Support due diligence and risk assessments in connection with mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations.
- Collaborate with regional legal and HR teams to align employment law compliance initiatives with business objectives.
- Provide counsel on internal investigations of employment-related complaints.
- Develop and deliver training programs for HR, management, and employees on employment laws, compliance requirements, and best practices, incorporating legal developments and emerging workplace trends
- Uphold the company’s principles, business controls, ethics, policies and procedures, and professional standards
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 6+ years of post-JD employment law advisory and litigation experience gained in private practice, and/or with a large multinational corporate organization; experience working with a manufacturing business is a plus
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state employment laws, including but not limited to California, Illinois, Massachusetts, and Texas
- Excellent organizational, drafting and communication skills (oral and written): ability to draft communications easily understandable to clients (whether legal advice, scripts for manager discussions, or broad internal communications); confident and strong project management and presentation skills
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills; demonstrated strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights, recommendations, and action plans is a plus
- Keen business acumen, ability to work cross-functionally, and comfort advising HR and business leaders on practical, risk-based solutions, with the ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization
- Highly motivated and proactive; exceptional ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; takes ownership and has a strong work ethic
- Primarily supporting the U.S., this role also interacts with Flex’s global workforce across multiple time zones, occasionally requiring early morning or late evening meetings
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Willingness to travel as needed
