About the Role

As the Principal Account Manager for Uber Eats Japan, you will serve as a strategic leader and key growth driver across one of our most dynamic markets. In this executive role, you will manage and expand relationships with high-value merchants—acting as their trusted advisor—and spearhead the development of our largest and most strategic retail partnerships in Japan. By uniting your deep understanding of the local market with exceptional strategic and leadership acumen, you will ensure that Uber Eats consistently delivers an unparalleled selection and experience to our consumers, driving both revenue growth and market leadership.

Your Impact in Role

  1. Build strong relationships with decision-makers and influencers throughout the organization, and effectively identify and exploit opportunities to improve core business metrics for our partners and Uber Eats.
  2. Conceive, design, and lead growth initiatives with our partners and drive through to completion, working cross-functionally with Uber's internal teams and our merchant partners to creatively solve problems to bring cross-product opportunities to life.
  3. Negotiate sophisticated deals and manage the associated commercial and legal processes.
  4. Play a key role in building out a best-in-class B2B account management function in the Grocery and Retail team.

The Experience You’ll Bring

  1. Extensive experience in account management, business development, or related roles, with a proven track record of managing large, complex accounts.
  2. Deep understanding of the Japanese market, including local consumer trends, regulatory requirements, and competitive landscape.
  3. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills in both Japanese and English.
  4. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to leverage data in making strategic decisions.
  5. Demonstrated leadership abilities, including experience managing cross-functional projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Prior experience in the food delivery, e-commerce platform, grocery, retail, and/or CPG/FMCG industry.
  2. Existing C-level relationships with top companies in the grocery and retail industry.
  3. Strong understanding of global and local market trends, and ability to apply insights to shape business strategies effectively.
