F5 GS Lab Engineer - Network Systems

Primary Responsibilities

  • Setting up, configuring, documenting, and maintaining GS Lab network and infrastructure systems
  • Setting up, configuring, documenting, and maintaining GS Lab virtual machine environments
  • Create and maintain scripts and tools to automate the configuration and usability of the lab
  • Support the operation of GS Lab’s back-up system
  • Troubleshoot lab and network outages and issues
  • Address lab users request tickets in a timely matter as per the GS Lab's Service Level Agreements
  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A working knowledge of virtual machine technology (VMware, ProxMox or KVM)
  • Fluent in various scripting languages for lab automation
  • Good knowledge of underlying web technologies including Linux Systems Administration, Python and Windows systems.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies
  • Ability to work well independently and on a lab team
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, planning and organization skills
  • Understanding of IP networking basics: L2, L3, L4, L7
  • Prior project management experience in an IT or software development setting
  • Experience with any of the following is a plus: knowledge of networking products such as routers, switches (Juniper), firewalls and NAS storage

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in computer/engineering related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 4 years of experience working with Windows and Linux/UNIX systems

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table, as well as in a data center environment
  • Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
  • Duties may require being on call periodically or working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends). Duties may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 5% of the time spent traveling.
  • Job may be performed on-site at a Lab/data center, or in an office environment sitting at a desk or computer table.
