Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Full professional proficiency in English (verbal and written)
  • You must be legally authorised to work in Netherlands to be eligible for this role.
    o (Legally authorised = Has citizenship or has been granted a valid visa or work permit)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Systems, Computer Science, Environmental or Electrical Engineering or related field AND some experience in reliability, resilience, crisis/incident management, business continuity, risk management, engineering, or compliance work OR equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated interest in Sustainability & ESG topics (through coursework, internships, or personal projects)
  • Familiarity with tools for data visualization (e.g., Power BI, Excel, or similar software)
  • Ability to collaborate in cross-functional, multicultural environments.

The internship is set to begin in June 2025 and will last for a duration of 12 weeks.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with assigned Microsoft organizational units to analyse EMEA-focused sustainability regulations, policies and trends. You’ll interpret broad guidelines from both global and local ESG frameworks, with a particular focus on environmental aspects, to perform routine risk assessments, identifying potential areas for improvement and suggesting mitigation strategies.
  • With minimal guidance, collaborate with internal teams to pilot ESG initiatives across multiple EMEA markets. This includes evaluating data-driven outcomes, measuring compliance with relevant policies, and ensuring readiness for evolving sustainability standards.
  • Collect and interpret signals on environmental, social, and governance metrics. You’ll work with assigned units to close any identified gaps and support the development of performance tracking exercises to address emerging ESG concerns.
  • Act as a resource for Microsoft employees by sharing foundational ESG knowledge and best practices. Through hands-on engagement, you’ll help develop and deliver targeted briefs to promote organization-wide ESG awareness.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and reporting on the Cloud ESG Planning EMEA team’s initiatives. You’ll ensure data accuracy, monitor objectives and key results, and align efforts with Microsoft’s broader corporate social responsibility goals.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to integrate ESG requirements, with a particular focus on environmental aspects, into broader corporate strategies. You’ll work alongside business, finance, and technology teams to ensure consistency in messaging and stakeholder engagement throughout the EMEA region.
