Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 4+ years accounting or finance experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 3+ year(s) accounting or finance experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with ASC 606 and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) accounting.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 7+ years accounting or finance experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 6+ year(s) accounting or finance experience.
  • Professional accounting certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent
  • Experience with software and technology industry
  • Ability to collaborate and be comfortable dealing with ambiguity, influencing across multiple complex organizations, and creating effecting partnerships
  • Organizational skills, ability to prioritize competing projects and adhere to deadlines
  • Highly adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining an emphasis on quality
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively across multiple groups

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate complex customer agreements and documenting the proper technical revenue conclusions in accordance with ASC 606 MSFT revenue policies, and customer/field intent.
  • Develop and maintain depth and breadth of knowledge over MS products, services and assigned customer relationships.
  • Identify non-standard + non- revenue focused technical accounting considerations within a commercial deal construct for further consideration by the technical accounting team.
  • Advise key stakeholders and engaging with senior leaders across multiple orgs (Deal Desk, Sales, Sales Finance) of the revenue recognition implications of custom solutions and negotiated customer contractual terms
  • Partner with Microsoft Business Operations to design and enable custom solutions for negotiated contractual terms including sku creation, invoicing, collections, payments, procurement, tax.
  • Track and follow up on commitments to ensure customer awareness and compliance with contractual commitments
  • Participate in cross-team initiatives towards process improvements and efficiencies by incorporating business partner and team feedback and industry best practices.
  • Identify and leverage technology to automate and innovate internal processes
