We are responsible for delivering over 200 Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the network that powers the world’s largest online services.
  • Within CO+I, the strategic Supply Chain team is responsible for establishing a supply chain that can meet the ever-growing growth of the Cloud and our customers. We support a portfolio of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-billion, multi-year datacenter construction projects. Furthermore, we support the Operations team that manages and runs the cloud assets.
  • We are looking to fill a critical role of Sub-Regional Contracts Manager to lead the procurement and contracts management of multiple data center build projects in Southern Europe as we continue to develop our build program across the EMEA region.
  • This is a management role where the chosen candidate will lead a team of experienced contracts managers spread across multiple build locations with responsibility for developing and implementing procurement strategies across multiple construction professional services categories including General Contractors, Specialist Trade Contractors, Architects & Engineers, Commissioning Agents and Project Managers.
  • In addition to the procurement and contracting of the various construction categories this role will also encompass the post contract management and administration of the contracts up to and including the negotiation of final account agreements.
  • The Sub-Regional Contracts Manager will work in a cross functional leadership team for the Sub-Region managing interfaces with all related functions such as Engineering, Project Controls and Construction Execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Supply Chain or construction related field AND significant experience in dedicated Construction role
  • Solid people management experience.
  • Solid experience working in portfolio role across multiple geographies, preferably with EMEA experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive negotiation experience in procurement and contracts management of large complex mission critical construction projects.

Procurement Planning

  • Implement procurement plans to effectively deliver against project goals on budget and schedule.

Negotiation

  • Implement appropriate negotiation strategies for the scope.

Supplier Selection

  • Participate in supplier selection and performance management; ensure alignment to Microsoft business goals throughout.

Contracting

  • Understand industry contracting norms and Microsoft contracting requirements; participate in negotiation of contracts that meet business goals.

Contract Oversight

  • Monitor key elements of supplier performance to contracted requirements; implement corrective action and lessons learned.

Project Management

  • Develop and implement plans to effectively deliver goods and services on time and within specification while managing risk.

Continuous Improvement

  • Always seek ways to streamline, automate, and simplify processes; includes deployment of tools, using data analytics and working with IT groups to define system requirements.
