Working collaboratively within the Uppsala GEMS Engineering Team in this onsite laboratory-intensive role, your efforts will be largely focused on the development, testing and documenting of chemical processes for production of cyclotron-produced-radionuclides with a focus on radiometals. Technical tasks will be subject to high-level instructions and work routines. As a secondary focus, you will maintain both the inventory for general laboratory supplies and select laboratory instrumentation (e.g. calibration, preventative maintenance, etc).
Responsibilities
  • Chemical testing (both bench and automation) according to high-level instruction in collaboration with Engineering team members and in consideration of key business drivers. Note that this requires handling of open-source radioactivity.

  • Thorough documenting and reporting of experimental results (both standard forms and free-text reporting).

  • Drafting of initial content for manuals related to experimental processes.

  • Supporting external collaborations. This may include occasional travel (up to 10%).

  • Maintaining laboratory supply inventory (i.e. ordering materials in a timely fashion).

  • Maintaining select laboratory equipment/materials (e.g. calibration, preventative maintenance, etc).

  • Continuing to broaden knowledge of technical discipline, including review of related scientific literature and publications.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., chemistry, biology, engineering, physics).

  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and practices, including experience in the safe handling of concentrated acids.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in conducting and documenting experiments and analysis.

  • Proficient skills for data entry and analysis (e.g. Excel)

  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills for presenting findings and collaborating with key stakeholders (e.g. team members, customers, etc.)

  • Good organizational skills and time management abilities (both day-to-day and longer-term).

  • Adaptability to handle changing priorities and tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Capability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Ability to troubleshoot/resolve issues within a defined framework but will consult more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.

  • Positive and solution-driven attitude with a curiosity for learning.

Desired Characteristics
  • Prior experience in radiochemistry – in particular, radiometals.

  • Prior experience with GMP, CMC writing, Quality systems, and similar related topics.

  • Prior experience working within managed programs using planning tools (e.g. Smartsheets)

  • Speaks/reads/writes Swedish (Basic level).
