The Associate will be part of a dedicated engineering team advising energy investment originators, portfolio/asset managers and senior management on technical and valuation issues on assigned projects; including coordinating with clients/sponsors, outside consultants and law firms in supporting the review, due diligence and documentation of new and existing TOI energy investments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct project-level technical due diligence for new investments from bidding through approval and closing stages
- Identify potential risk areas and key issues for additional review, and possible mitigation approaches
- Collaborate with other functional groups to evaluate issues and identify solutions
- Conduct site visits to inspect assets being considered for financing as well as for existing investments
- Prepare written technical reports and present the results of technical reviews to approval committees.
- Assist asset management personnel in identifying, investigating and resolving equipment and portfolio performance issues
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering
- 2+ years of relevant experience with solar, storage or wind power projects and technologies. Breadth of experience is a plus, as is exposure to other clean energy technologies (carbon capture, hydrogen, geothermal, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communications skills - to concisely convey technical information to management and to other functional groups
- Demonstrated ability and desire to work in a fast paced team oriented environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Familiarity with project finance and technical due diligence
- Familiarity with transmission and congestion or energy market analyses
- Familiarity with Tableau, ArcGIS, or programming languages (Python, Visual Basic)
