In the Principal Release Manager role, you will be responsible for coordinating with Project Management, Engineering, DevOps and Testing leaders to release medical device and software development projects through our development, test, pre-production and production environments. This includes coordinating required infrastructure updates and leading continuous release integration pipeline improvements to ensure quality and efficiency across the release cycle. Business-Oriented planning and communication across R&D and up the management chain will be required to drive key initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing critical business processes, systems, and lead changes in efficiency and quality
  • Approving Environment Management and Release Workflow for a matrixed medical device software system stack
  • Defining and enforcing release policies, procedures, and best practices to optimize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ensuring that release processes adhere to regulatory requirements and organizational policies
  • Developing full-scale environment and resource plans working within cross-functional teams
  • Establishing common release management documentation and metrics to monitor and continuously improve deployment reliability and post-deployment stability
  • Proactively managing changes in roadmap scope, timing and critical path to identify and mitigate potential risks to the release schedule, and devise contingency plans
  • Coordinating release schedules and required resources taking into account multiple factors such as third-party software, planned releases, and infrastructure updates
  • Planning release windows and cycles across projects and oversees the deployment of software releases into production environments, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations
  • Effectively communicating environment needs and post-release results to executive team and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Coaching, mentoring, and motivating team members on environment and release best practices

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working with cross-functional teams including management and project management
  • Direct experience managing software or medical device projects, releases or teams
  • Detailed Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) knowledge
  • Track record of success leading large, cross-functional, complex projects / programs
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and situational leadership
  • Strong planning, influencing, and problem-solving skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Preferred degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • Experience working with FDA Regulated Software as a Medical Device
  • Release and Environment Stack Management Experience
  • Continuous Integration and Automated Release Management Experience
