As an Applied Researcher within our Advertising team, you will play a pivotal role in developing machine learning models and algorithms to guide advertisers effectively. Your work will directly impact our guidance systems, enhancing ad performance and delivering actionable insights. You will lead our efforts in data analysis, uncovering trends, and driving data-informed decisions that support our advertisers' success.
What you will accomplish:
End-to-End Machine Learning Development : Design, implement, and validate machine learning models tailored to advertising applications. Focus on developing systems that provide actionable guidance to advertisers, optimizing ad performance and engagement.
Data Analysis : Analyze large volume of data to produce actionable insights and build pipeline/dashboard for feature engineering and performance monitoring.
Cross-functional Collaboration : Work closely with product managers, software engineers, and other researchers to integrate machine learning solutions into our advertising products. Ensure that our advertiser guidance systems are meeting with user needs and improving business goals.
Innovation and Research : Stay close to the latest developments in machine learning and advertising technologies. Contribute to internal and external research communities by publishing findings, advocating eBay's technical advancements at accredited industrial and academic conferences.
Technical Mentoring : Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other team members. Share knowledge and best practices in Machine Learning to uplift the team's capabilities.
What you will bring:
Education: Ph.D. or M.S. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field with a focus on Machine Learning or Data Science.
Experience: 5+ years (with PhD) or 8+ years (with MS) of related work experience in applied research or development of machine learning models, preferably with the advertising industry or a closely related field (e.g. search, recommendations system and NLP). Industrial publication is a plus.
Technical Proficiency: Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, or similar languages. Proficiency with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical partners.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.
