As a, you are responsible for on-site (field) management of discipline specific construction activities in accordance with the requirement of the contract between JACOBS and clients, and in accordance with quality, safety, and cost control standards. The incumbent has thorough knowledge of and experience in civil construction projects including but not limited to, road, sidewalk, ROW regulations and utility coordination. He or she will be expected to ensure compliance with all federal and state procedures, regulations, and standards, and present progress updates to appropriate management channels on a regular basis. This professional will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects at once and serving as the representative at each worksite in dealings with subcontractor, suppliers, and customers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee and coordinate utility pre-construction, construction and maintenance projects and other utility-related work or operations occurring within public rights-of-way.

• Inspect and evaluate right-of-way work in progress to ensure repairs, maintenance, and project activities are performed in accordance with city standards and specifications, as applicable.

• Provide and update within a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) (ex. City Works) information for right-of-way permits, such as project status and construction/warranty inspection notes.

• Schedule and attend pre-construction meetings.

• Respond to utility emergencies or other situations affecting the public rights-of-way, assess situation and coordinate appropriate response with the CIP Street Rehabilitation Manager.

• Monitor work sites to ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures, including the Manual on Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), OSHA, and Jacobs’ Safety Policy.

• Follow safety procedures, report unsafe activities and conditions, utilize safety equipment, and monitor work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.

• Maintain a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, codes, regulations.

• Receive, prepare or complete various forms, reports, correspondence, or other documents.

• Effectively communicate with management, employees, other departments, the public, contractors and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems; respond to requests for service or assistance.

• Participate in the development of goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards.

• Performs general maintenance tasks, such as scheduled vehicle safety inspections, vehicle cleaning, general upkeep, etc, to keep vehicles and assigned equipment in operable condition.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Here's what you'll need

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Two years of experience working with public and/or private utilities, with a working knowledge of public-sector right-of-way regulations, construction plans.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook, and the ability to operate other standard office equipment; ability to document project status and updates as required in a CMMS, and ability to acquire proficiency level in a CMMS to perform responsibilities.

• Ability to understand ROW regulations, construction material control and job specifications.

• Strong inter-personal relationship skills, and verbal and written communications skills.

• Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license.

• Must be capable of personally driving a company vehicle in the performance of the duties contained herein.

Ideally, you'll also have:

• Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Design/Construction Management.

• Two years of experience working with public and private utilities, with a working knowledge of public-sector right-of-way regulations, construction plans.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
