Responsibility and Scope

  • This is a rare offering for a critical role as a lead system design engineer / project coordinator to work as a direct liaison to KLA headquarters system and program management located in Milpitas Ca in support of leading edge E-beam mask inspection products in RAPID division of KLA
  • The candidate is to act as a regional lead and cross-functional coordinator to drive daily activities in the region in direct collaboration with KLA headquarter team located in Milpitas, CA
  • The candidate must be effective at leading a team of engineers to achieve program goals
  • The candidate shall assess/evaluate risks, and drive projects forward with an eye for critical path
  • The candidate shall communicate cross-functionally with a diverse team including engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and service to drive execution
  • The candidate shall lead, encourage, empower, and influence team members to achieve excellence in engineering rigor, reliability, usability, and customer focus
  • The candidate shall articulate and present execution plans for internal leadership as well as external customers
  • The candidate shall resolve inconsistencies between subsystems, conduct trade-off studies, identify high-risk areas, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • The candidate shall Identify bottlenecks and remove obstacles for the team to focus on value-add activities
  • The candidate shall be able hold/host regular daily coordination meetings between functional groups to ensure interdependencies are well understood and documented and daily plans are documented and plans of action are in place for clear and smooth execution
  • The candidate shall support roadmap development by detailing upcoming requirement changes and resources required
  • The candidate shall drive product or feature introduction. This includes developing system alignment, diagnostics and calibration strategies, training of operations and field personnel, and solving technical issues that may impact product introduction and ramp.
  • The candidate shall drive team to resolve system issues at customer site. This will require consistent collaboration with engineers at in both Milpitas and Taiwan to solve issues escalated to engineering: establish root cause, develop plan of action (POA), guide local teams in execution of POA, and document issues and solutions to improve design and/or procedures so that they may be implemented in a standard manner.
  • The candidate shall coach design engineers at all levels, across functional groups, and across cultures.
  • Will require some regular travel to KLA Milpitas Headquarters (< 25%).
  • More frequent travel is expect during initial onboarding the for the first 6 months. Approx 2-3 weeks onsite, every 3 months for the first 6 months of role or until candidate is sufficiently ramped and networked with key stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications &Attributes

  • Advanced degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences
  • 6+ years of industry experience in Engineering and/or Project Management of multidisciplinary products
  • Strong background in engineering or the physical sciences with demonstrated analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Experience developing metrology for the semiconductor capital equipment or other manufacturing industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex system data to lead system architecture definition and develop system requirements.
  • Hands-on experience constructing and aligning E-beam systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the division, customers, vendors and across cultures.
  • Project management skills (scoping, budgeting, and scheduling).
  • Great teammate with strong leadership, critical thinking, communication and analytical skills
  • Curiosity and disposition towards learning fast beyond immediate knowledge span
  • Track record for leading teams through influence rather than direct reporting line
  • Experience in Capital Equipment sectors is a plus (e.g. Semiconductors, Medical Equipment, Robotics)
  • Experience with Project Management tools (MS Project, Wrike, Jira, etc)
  • PMP or Agile certification is a plus
  • Ability to communicate well in both verbal and written English

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 6 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 8 years
