When you join us you’ll be responsible for the preparation of reports and regulatory permits and approvals in compliance with various environmental laws such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Clean Air Act, Section 4(f), Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, etc.

You’ll have the opportunity to lead preparation of complex EISs, EAs, and other environmental compliance documents in the project planning stages. In this role, you’ll work as part of a diverse team of scientists, planners, engineers, and community involvement specialists in the preparation of technical studies and public and agency involvement communications in preparing complex environmental studies. You may also provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel.

The successful candidate must have exceptional writing and verbal skills and be able to work in a collaborative team environment internally and externally. You’ll utilize your expertise by collecting and analyzing environmental, social and economic data to be used in developing alternatives to study under the NEPA and related federal and state environmental disclosure laws.

We’ll look to you to assist with processes of scoping, developing purpose and need, developing and analyzing alternatives, and preparing documents in compliance with NEPA. In this role you’ll have regular client and internal interaction in a collaborative manner. Additionally, the final candidate will participate in competitive bid presentations to clients, regulatory agencies and public. As well as assist and support in conducting public and agency involvement programs.

Here's what you'll need

• Bachelors or masters degree in planning, environmental law, biology, or related environmental science program

• Previous professional experience in planning, environmental analysis, and/or transportation studies

• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

• Experience working with state DOTs, FHWA, or other transportation agencies

• Exceptional writing and verbal skills and ability to work in a collaborative team approach internally and externally

• Demonstrated ability to produce high quality work products that meet and exceed client expectations

• Previous experience with NEPA studies and public outreach efforts

• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team of professionals

• Ability to travel regionally to support project work

• Able to work in an open, collaborative environment

Ideally you’ll also have:

• Experience utilizing GIS mapping and analytical software, such as ESRI ArcGIS products
