Senior Legal Counsel - Fintech Partnerships and New Products
Senior Legal Counsel - Fintech Partnerships and New Products, your responsibilities will be:
- Supporting the negotiation and drafting of critical third party payment service provider contracts, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations and card scheme requirements and optimising for commercial outcomes whilst protecting the company from foreseeable risks and consequences.
- Procuring and interpreting legal advice to the Fintech business including on payment regulatory strategy, new fintech products and partnership models), from external counsel and internal subject matter experts
- Coordinating legal support across different specialisms and areas (including Consumer, Regulatory DMA/DSA, Data Protection, Compliance)
- Analysing precedents/case law and proposed existing laws and regulations that may impact the new Fintech products and their growth and facilitate the implementation of any regulatory requirements
- Liaise with Fintech Partnerships and New Fintech Product owners to support queries and help coordinate requests for input and legal advice for their various initiatives that are generated by our internal risk assessment processes
- Carrying out other tasks as required to enhance the effectiveness of the Product & Fintech legal team
The ideal candidate will have:
- Knowledge of and demonstrable experience of compliance with regulations, ideally, Payments and Fintech, although Financial Services, or Privacy, or other rapidly evolving and developing regulatory contexts can assist
- Innovative: the ability to meet complex challenges with innovative solutions that will apply successfully across multiple practice areas and jurisdictions
- Ability to empathise with the regulatory expectations of regulators, review output and communicate with fluidity and precision in dealings with regulators
- Curiosity about and interest in exploring legal technologies and tech-enabled efficiencies; experience with multiple legal tech solutions is a plus
- Expertise in data presentation in regulatory contexts
- Very strong organizational and project management skills. Capable of handling multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously and executing to completion
- A natural problem-solver and strategic thinker, comfortable with ambiguity and able to bring structure to challenging situations
- Someone who is always looking for opportunities to drive efficiency through appropriate use of the right technologies
- Strong communication skills, particularly clear and concise written communication
- A natural at building consensus and working with multiple stakeholders to drive projects to completion
