What You Will Be Doing

  • Refine Elastic's public policy strategy, to support the company's strategic business and corporate priorities.
  • Monitor and analyze EU legislative and regulatory developments in emerging technology areas such as AI, data privacy, cybersecurity, digital taxation, and other technology policies that could impact Elastic’s operations and business interests.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key international government officials, including EU institutions (European Commission, European Parliament, Council of the EU, ENISA), and relevant national/local government officials.
  • Identify and provide advice on business opportunities and risks stemming from public policy initiatives in new and emerging technology domains.
  • Provide regular updates and training to Elastic’s Europe-based sales team on emerging EU regulations and policies that may affect Elastic's products or services.
  • Work closely with the legal team to help evaluate standardized commercial contracts, terms and conditions, and other documentation that align with EU requirements across different countries and regulatory domains.
  • Represent Elastic in key government forums and educate EU policymakers about our policy priorities.
  • Advance the public brand and drive Elastic's reputation and thought leadership in Europe.
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to ensure new products and features align with relevant EU laws and regulations before being sold in the European market, providing a strong competitive advantage.

What You Bring

  • Deep understanding of the EU policy-making process, including experience with relevant legislative and regulatory initiatives in technology.
  • Strong network of contacts within EU institutions and with key stakeholders, such as trade associations, think tanks, or policy influencers.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills to represent Elastic’s interests effectively to policymakers, regulators, and the public.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable policy positions.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to anticipate regulatory trends that may impact the technology sector.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Political Science, Law, International Relations, or a related field. A focus on EU law or public policy is a plus.
  • 4-7 years of experience in government affairs, policy advocacy, or regulatory compliance, with a specific focus on the EU, its institutions, and member states.
  • Experience with EU institutions such as the European Commission, European Parliament, and EU member state governments, particularly in navigating policy discussions related to technology, cybersecurity, and data protection.
  • Background in technology policy, such as AI, cybersecurity, data privacy (GDPR), cloud computing, or export controls, would be highly valuable.
  • Experience working in or with multinational corporations in a regulated industry, preferably in the tech or IT sector.
