As the Indirect Tax Manager, you will be part of a multi-functional global Finance team, ensuring we operate most efficiently and effectively as Elastic continues to scale. You’ll also engage with a diverse range of Elasticians and external business partners across the globe and will be constantly learning, growing, and adapting to help build best in class processes.

What you will be doing:
  • Review indirect tax returns & payments including sales, use, property, and gross receipts; review business license applications and renewals; ensure timely and accurate filings to minimize assessments
  • Develop, improve and streamline processes and procedures for indirect tax return compliance
  • Assist in managing US sales and use tax compliance in collaboration with internal team and external tax advisors
  • Analyze the general ledger, reconciliations, and tax reports to ensure accurate reporting of tax; reconcile data between systems to ensure integrity and accuracy, analyzing fluctuations for assigned accounts to identify unusual trends or activity; Analyze and document differences from GAAP financial statements and corporate income tax return reporting
  • Manage the preparation and completion of accurate and timely quarterly and year-end indirect tax reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP
  • Monitor the sales tax system to ensure correct rates and tax rules are applied
  • Respond to correspondence & inquiries from tax authorities and resolve outstanding issues
  • Provide guidance on indirect tax matters and assist in decision-making processes, as many projects come up!
What you bring:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 5+ years indirect tax experience preferred; SAAS tax experience a plus
  • Ability to recognize, understand, and analyze complex indirect tax issues
  • Proficient computer skills including Excel, ERP systems, and Alteryx
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, and large amounts of data; ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Must be a self-starter with a positive attitude and high degree of enthusiasm
  • Strive to achieve effective performance within the team, working for the overall success of the company


Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary. This role does not have a variable compensation component.

These ranges representthe lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

The typical starting salary range for this role is:
$169,100 USD
$202,700 USD
