Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate Degree or Equivalent International Degree
    • OR Completion of a Legal Apprenticeship.
  • Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.
  • 10+ years experience as a practicing competition and/or antitrust attorney
    • OR equivalent practice of law.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience as an attorney as a practicing competition and/or antitrust attorney.
  • 1+ year(s) people management experience.
  • At least 10+ years experience as a practicing competition and/or antitrust attorney.
  • A mix of experience in law firm, government experience, and in-house a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Competition Law and Policy Expertise – You provide deep and broad understanding of competition law and principles in the U.S. and abroad. You provide expertise on competition policy and market regulation as well as regulatory investigations.
  • Legal Advice and Counsel - You act as the primary competition advisor for one or more business groups, products, or corporate functions and you identify and anticipate highly complex legal and/or other issues; you serve as a key business partner and advisor to executives and advise them on the potential impact of competition and antitrust laws on the business; you identify and engage stakeholders in Corporate, External and Legal Affairs and escalate and drive decisions.
  • Initiative Leadership – You work across internal and external stakeholders to lead key competition law initiatives and workstreams aimed at protecting Microsoft’s interests and advancing our point of view with regulators, legislators, academics and economists, and policymakers. You develop relationships with external and internal stakeholders and drive results; you take an active role in external outreach initiatives to expand Microsoft's outreach; you collaborate with internal teams and leaders to ensure a Corporate, External and Legal Affairs voice.
  • Solution Implementation - You develop solutions that anticipate and mitigate legal and other risks; you manage and develop relationships with outside counsel and clients to create strategic and innovative solutions that address issues and achieve business objectives; you provide feedback and evaluate process improvements that increase efficiencies.
