Global Logistics Specialist, Network Optimization and Transportation Excellence


As a Global Logistics Specialist at 3M, you will play a pivotal role in driving transportation excellence across our global network.

As aGlobal Logistics Specialist, Network Optimization and Transportation Excellenceyou will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Your primary focus is analyzing current logistics network, designing optimized product flow paths and implementing improved product flow solutions
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize transportation routes and improve cost efficiency and service levels
  • Leverage your expertise in advanced analytics and modeling tools to simulate and evaluate network scenarios.
  • Identify, analyze, and lead continuous improvement projects that streamline logistics processes, reduce costs, and elevate our transportation capabilities
  • Collaborate closely with cross functional teams, including Supply Chain, IT, Operations to ensure seamless integration of transportation optimization solutions and alignment with broader business goals.
  • Analyze complex data, develop innovative solutions, and manage large scale projects which will be critical to our success in meeting evolving business needs

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (
at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science and/or Supply Chain/Logistics field (Completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in network optimization within a distribution, supply chain or logistics environment in a public, private or military environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Four (4) years’ experience in Supply Chain Network optimization tools such as Supply Chain guru, JDA strategist, Gurobi or Optilogic.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree (preferred)
  • Power platforms knowledge (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Lean Six Sigma, SQL, analytics and project management tools.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and systems (e.g., TMS, WMS, ERP, SAP).
  • Problem-Solving Skills : Demonstrated ability to analyze complex systems and processes, identify inefficiencies, and develop innovative solutions to drive improvements.
  • Communication and Leadership : Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present ideas and influence decision-making. Strong leadership and teamwork abilities, with a proven track record of successfully managing cross-functional projects.

Work location:

  • Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood)
