The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As an EHS Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Provide technical expertise and assistance on all aspects of the site’s EHS efforts, with a dedicated focus on industrial hygiene.
Develops and leads site-specific industrial hygiene activities and initiatives on such topics as hearing conservation, ventilation management, exposure assessment, Personal Protective Equipment, etc.
Leads incident investigations impacting employee health.
Manages all Industrial Hygiene (IH) related internal company requirements,
Leads the site industrial hygiene program, developing standard work to continuously improve the broad area of Industrial Hygiene.
Provides input for the annual EHS planning cycle related to industrial hygiene.
Coordinates activities and improvement efforts for the industrial hygiene elements of the EHS Management System.
Works closely with USAC IH, Corporate IH, 3M Medical, and Facility EHS contacts to promptly address related issues.
Partners with the 3M engineering and industrial hygiene organizations on relevant programs and projects.
Stays current in trending activities related to the industrial hygiene discipline thru attendance of technical conferences, membership in key professional association/trade association teams, and benchmarking activities with peers and/or strategic partners (Chemical, Pharma, Logistics, etc.).
Monitors regulatory trends and activities related to industrial hygiene that could have an impact on our site operations.
Your Skills and Expertise
following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
Three (3) years of EHS Engineering or Industrial Hygiene experience in a Manufacturing settingin a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in science, toxicology, or industrial hygiene from an accredited institution
Experience in process safety management program implementation and maintenance
Experience in implementation of comprehensive exposure assessment and management systems
Experience with chemical agent sampling and analytical method implementation and development including real time detection systems
American Board of Industrial Hygiene, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or willingness to obtain within the first 18 months of employment at 3M
Engineering control concepts and design with practical implementation experience
Noise exposure assessment and control implementation
Ability to work in a team atmosphere
Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
Strong computer and database skills
