The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a EHS Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Providing technical expertise and assistance on all aspects of the site’s Environmental & Safety Compliance efforts to include Safety & Injury prevention, Incident Investigation, Process Safety Management (PSM), Dust Hazard Management (DHM), Fall Protection, Machine Guarding, Site Emergency Preparedness & Emergency Response Team, Hazardous & Universal Waste.
  • Assist with the coordination of the Site PSM, DHM & MOC programs.
  • Assisting in representing the site during audits by 3M staff groups such as EHS Environmental Operations and Corporate Safety as well as regulatory inspections.
  • Developing appropriate documentation on plant systems to comply with 3M requirements & lead efforts to improve existing programs.
  • Providing EHS support in the design and installation of new or modified equipment, New Product Introduction System, Incoming Material Approval System, and Management of Change.
  • Assisting in meeting departmental and plant Lean Six Sigma targets and leading EHS Projects.
  • Assist in investigating workplace incidents and completing root cause analyses to determine appropriate corrective actions and conducting assessments of high hazard processes to reduce risk.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field from an accredited university (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Three (3) year of experience working in a manufacturing facility that has Process Safety Management (PSM) processes.
  • Experience with Process Safety Management, Process Hazard Management and Dust Hazard Management

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Five (5) years of experience managing Risk Management Programs or Process Safety Management Programs.
  • Experience with Layers of Protection Analysis and other Process Safety Management methods.
  • Certifications such as: Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM); Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other related credentials.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work closely with Plant Management and Production employees.
  • Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organization skills.
  • Experience conducting Process Hazard Analysis & Dust HazardAnalysis.
