People Consulting (PC) – HR Actuarial Services – Assistant Manager

Your key responsibilities

  • Prepare/review pension valuations, benefit certifications, vendor assessments, plan design/cost studies, transactions due diligence analysis and various government filings for a variety of clients while delegating and reviewing work of junior staff
  • Review work of junior staff while participating as a specialist in required annual audits
  • Work within a team environment with company valuations and post-merger integration services to deliver fully integrated benefits services to clients
  • Prepare/review non-discrimination testing requirements of the IRS for retirement plans
  • Take a practical approach to solving issues and gaining client agreement
  • Encourage and facilitate collaboration amongst team members, and promote an inclusive working environment
  • Contribute to client satisfaction by providing timely and effective responses to client needs and concerns

  • Ability to manage client expectations effectively for a portfolio of clients and resolves standard issues

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor's degree with a concentration in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics
  • Four to six years of work experience
  • An actuarial certification (Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA), Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or Enrolled Actuary (EA)), or a commensurate level of continuing education for non-actuarial area of focus
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel as well as work in excess of standard hours when necessary
  • Proficiency with more advanced features in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in actuarial valuation software and experience in reviewing and thorough knowledge of basic pension funding calculations and financial statement disclosures or:
    • experience with actuarial calculations for health and welfare plans
    • experience with benefits design and vendor management

  • We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $94,300 to $192,800. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $113,100 to $219,100. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
  • Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
