Safety Engineer

Position will report to the Sr. Director of North America EHS and will be responsible for the support of manufacturing, and research and development operations in Tempe, AZ. Position will work closely with site management in RD&E and other EHS staff to drive environmental, safety and health programs, ensure regulatory compliance and promote continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Ensures proper investigations of accident / incidents conducted for EH&S events and drives corrective actions. Act as liaison with regulatory authorities for safety requirements

Track and trend EH&S related legislation and take appropriate action to comply with requirements. Communicates EH&S issues to all necessary management and employees. Generates necessary reports and documentation. Lead the investigation into accidents and provide feedback to relevant parties for corrective action

Review and report EH&S progress and performance for assigned site/function.

Ensures compliance with required codes, standards, and regulations. Act as a liaison with local, regional, or federal regulatory authorities. Manage metrics and reporting

Oversees accident / incident investigations and analyzes pertinent data. Documents results.

Performs a wide range of health and safety compliance duties including equipment and facility permitting, compliance auditing, management of change and chemical authorization approvals, record keeping and reporting, liaison with the local authorities

· Ensures compliance with required health and safety, fire code and building codes, standards and regulations. Act as a liaison with local, regional or federal regulatory authorities.

· Ensures proper investigations of environmental, health and safety incidents conducted for EH&S events and drive corrective actions to closure.

Develop skills to report and present safety related status and issues to EH&S team and business groups. Implements focused, effective programs aimed at resolving customer concerns and complaints regarding safety designed into new products, and ensures that products meet safety requirements at time of shipment. Participates in compliance evaluation of products, programs, and facilities per company and governmental requirements. Participates in the evaluation and analysis of concept and feasibility studies. Performs product/system safety analysis on components, subsystems, and systems. Prepares periodic and special reports in connection with engineering studies and projects and from liaison with other companies and outside organizations. Investigates accidents and specifies corrective action programs

Manage 3rd party Product Safety tool assessments and drive corrective actions within the various internal organizations.

Evaluates and specifies work methods, design requirements, procedures and policies. Gathers EHS information and evaluates results. Administers EH&S safety training programs.

Participates in compliance evaluation of products, programs, and facilities per company and governmentalrequirements.Investigates accidents and specifies corrective action. Able to use 8D, FMEA, PHA and other investigation and assessment methods.

Has working knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements, codes and standard in their EH&S discipline. Evaluates and specifies work methods, design requirements, procedures and policies.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in relevant engineering or scientific degree.

4+ years in one or more EH&S disciplines that include Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental,

Other Requirements:This position may require standing for extended periods of time, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, lifting, the ability to distinguish between colors, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, and the use of hand and power tools.

Additionally, because this position also may involve working in a clean room, the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields may be required.
