As a member of the APAC Sanctions team you will be responsible for providing hands on support with respect to the team’s day-to-day sanctions-related responsibilities, including but not limited: investigations, escalations, advisory, list maintenance, metrics, special projects, strategic initiatives, as well as control and oversight responsibilities.

As an Associate in the APAC Sanctions team, you will sit within the Global Financial Crimes Compliance (“GFCC”) group. GFCC is part of our Global Compliance organization and is responsible for developing and implementing the requirements and standards for the Firm's Enterprise-Wide Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions programs. GFCC is comprised of the core functions (KYC, Sanctions, Risk Assessment, Investigations and Transaction Monitoring), business-aligned teams, and regional teams.

Job responsibilities:

  • Assisting Advisory leads in the APAC Sanctions team with respect to the following matters: providing advice and consult with JPMC’s lines of business to ensure U.S. and non-U.S. Sanctions standards and policies are effectively implemented in the region, reviewing clients and transactions for potential sanctions issues, performing the necessary research and query to determine the sanctions requirements in Asia and US/ EMEA
  • Assisting the Governance lead in the APAC Sanctions team in providing oversight and control to: Global Sanctions Standards communication requirement, recertification of APAC Sanction procedures and SLA, sanction list application (transactions & client), reporting on APAC Sanction metrics, Internal audit request and own audit points where applicable
  • Assisting APAC Sanctions team in communicating and coordinating with Money Laundering Reporting Officers within APAC region as appropriate
  • Assisting APAC Sanctions team in matters related to functional governance sub-committees as appropriate
  • Establishing working relationships with other key stakeholders across the firm
  • Assisting APAC Sanctions team in identifying and executing areas to improve efficiency, control and governance within the team
  • Working on ad-hoc projects or requests from Management

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience working with or in Compliance, Risk Management, or Audit
  • Candidate must have strong written/verbal communication, proven high volume processing and analytical skills with the ability to work independently on multiple assignments simultaneously in a deadline driven, regulatory environment
  • Possess effective computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of OFAC and APAC sanctions regulatory requirements
  • Banking experience inclusive of knowledge on banking processes, products, and controls
  • Self-reliance and willingness to own problems and creatively find solutions
  • Must be results oriented and have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
