The Associate is a senior level position responsible for performing geotechnical analysis and preparing geologic materials used for strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions and other types of financial transactions in coordination with the Institutional Banking team. The overall objective of this role is to generate high-quality geological analyses and technical materials that can be presented to clients and counterparties as part of Citi’s strategic advisory services for energy clients.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for technical evaluation of oil and gas assets across Upstream, Midstream and Downstream sectors and will lead or support the geology function on assigned projects
- Role will involve all relevant geologic tasks including, but not limited to: well log interpretation, regional basin-scale mapping, landing zone analysis, core analysis, generation of relevant subsurface maps and cross sections
- Perform asset technical evaluations, including analyzing and delivering data to identify key subsurface performance drivers
- Generate presentation materials for pre-marketing documents and data room presentations using private and/or public data for support
- Lead or assist with the coordination of execution mandates and external project meetings, as required
- Prepare virtual data rooms based on data supplied by clients
- Market assets to potential buyers by presenting analysis to large groups and following up on buyer’s questions and answers
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 4-8 years of relevant experience working for an oil and gas operator or in A&D banking
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Geographix, Petra, Petrel, or Kingdom; Spotfire, ArcGIS, and other geospatial or analytical software is a plus
- SIE, Series 79 and 63 licenses to be obtained shortly after starting if not already licensed
- Ability to demonstrate discretion dealing with confidential matters
- Demonstrated ability to assess technical risk in economic valuations
- Proven ability to perform various concurrent activities/project in a high-risk environment
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Proven influencing and relationship management skills
- Highly motivated individual capable of working in fast-paced environment
- Interest in learning about energy banking finance, economics and capital markets
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred
